Smerconish - Bad Bumper Song Choice

On his morning show today, Michael Smerconish asked listeners whether or not they would adopt dogs that were rescued from Michael Vick's pit bull operation.

Then, going into break, he played the song "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction - which features dog barking at the beginning of the track:

A little inappropriate given the discussion topic at the time, wouldn't you say?

how was that "inappropriate"? I believe you're overthinking things. This is ironic because Smerconich rails against overly PC thinking.....

Maybe not inappropriate. Maybe just bad timing. And it happens all the time in other aspects of life not just radio. I'll give another example. I help out in the DJ booth at a local club in Connecticut. Before it gets busy they play a CD on a loop. Last Saturday a Country CD from Promo Only was playing. Now the club is a family owned business. An older gentleman is the owner. His daughter is the manager/liquor permittee/bartender, one of his sons is the DJ, his other son works in the kitchen, and his grandson helps his father out in the kitchen. Now the grandson of the owner was telling his aunt and uncle he was still upset because the day before his dog escaped from the backyard, ran out into the middle of a busy street and was struck and killed, and the heartless fool didn't even stop. As he was talking about this one of the songs on the looping CD was "Every Dog Has Its Day" by Toby Keith. I was thinking to myself "What bad timing".
