So I was in Gatlinburg recently, and took some time late Monday night to scan the FM radio dial from my chalet. I was picking up stations from Nashville, Chattanooga and Columbia,SC.
88.1 WUTC chattanooga
88.9 WMBW chattanooga
92.3 WDEF chattanooga
96.5 WDOD chattanooga
92.9 WJXA nashville
95.5 WSM nashville
97.9 WSIX nashville
98.3 WMTY? sweetwater TN??
98.5 WTFM kingsport TN
99.3 WTZR elizabethton TN
99.5 WKDP corbin KY
99.7 WWTN hendersonville, TN
90.1 WEKP pineville ky
93.5 WAXM big stone gap va
There was a Columbia, SC station there too, possibly an NPR affiliate but I forgot to note the frequency. I only made it passed 99.9, thinking I could pick it up again another time but.. I was wrong.
The ironic thing is I went to Clingmans dome partially for FM DX, got a few stations in from Atlanta (150 miles away) but the Nashville catches were over 200 miles away. go figure right?
how often does this kind of DX happen in the Smokies?
