"Smooth FM 98.1" better than "Smooth Jazz 98.1"?

It seems that KIFM's change to Smooth AC has worked as its July Arbitron ratings had it at 4.5 (ranked 7th) just behind KYXY who had a 4.6 (ranked 6th). For me, I am a Smooth Jazz fan first and foremost but is this new format that focuses "Smooth Vocals" as the basis and only sprinkles in instrumentals every so often better than the previous Smooth Jazz format? What do you think?
 
At one time KyXy was a great station.... I miss Yvonne Carlin!!!

There is a big hole in SD for the softer songs, KyXy is going after Star and loosing some of its core audience, good for KIFM for seeing the need and filling it.
