Smooth Jazz 106.5 Gone

News flash: most Smooth Jazz stations have gone or are going away. Fact of life.

Blaming radio? If there were ratings or revenue to be had with the format, more would be doing it. Another fact of life.

(I love the format, too, but........)

They are currently playing Phil Collins's "One More Night" over and over....The Bull, huh? Dang and here I was hoping for another K-Love signal! :p

Wasn't this tried already? It was Buckeye Country 106.5. I seem to remember that it worked out before.
But then Again when they flipped to smooth jazz. CC flipped it back to the Original format of the station prior to Jacor buying it and flipping it to Buckeye Country

Just trying to boost ratings prior to selling the stick. That's all. Nothing to be worried about.

I See no point in having ANOTHER country station on the FM dial in a market that already has 2 other country stations.

Do we really have this many hillbillies that we need ANOTHER country station?

It was wishful thinking on my part, but I was kind of hoping they'd simulcast 94.5 on 106.5 until the sale. At least the outer portions of the Dayton market would have a CHR to listen to without having to sift through a bunch of static. Although, having been in the business for over a decade, I know that radio does not work that way. I wonder what the folks up at The Tiger in Greenville think about the pending temporary switch?

Unfortunately yes gang! Most of them laid off and scrambling for some sort of income if they are indigenous enough to go into buisiness by going "junking"' along the city streets for discarded appliances or such...if not selling their souls to Cashland and the like.

CC seems to want to intimidate not only Union City/Greenville's WTGR but also WQLK in Richmond and WHKO. THe WDSJ calls are still in use.
"106.5 The (Clear Channel) BULL-ies."

We're Dayton-Springfield's Junkers....y'all!

(ha-chi-chi-chi-chi!)

Now all the major radio companies in Dayton have a Country Signal:
K-99.1(Cox)
Kiss Country(Mainline)
The Bull(Clear Channel)
Just what Dayton needs...more of the same hillbilly music. If I remember right K-99 annihilated Buckeye Country in the late 90s/early 2000s. Don't think it won't happen again. I can only hope.

K99.1 murders all of these country stations. BTW, simulcasting 945 would've been nice but satellite controls 945 now - I guess some CHR is better than none.

Listening online roght now its its clearly country now. No Phil Collins repeat and they have DJ's unless this is satalite fed.

Interesting. I don't know why we need another Country station, or eventhe northern Miami Valley needs another one. Buckeye Country was an effort to voicetrack all of jacor's Country stations in Ohio from WCOL.

Are they satelliting (like apparently 94-5) or will they use CC "Premium" VTs.

The Tiger will do fine by emphasizing all of their local programming.
