Kudos to Jim...I remember his name from my days in the Cincy engineering community 30 years ago. Just looked at the day pattern on radio-locator.com. Nice...more than I expected from those short sticks. I grew up on AM and will always cheer for the mom & pop that plays music on AM...best wishes from Indiana...major said:Jim Gray has done an excellent job cleaning up the signal. For quite a while the signal was limited to 250 watts. My brother and I thought they may as well have set a boom box in a second story building and had a better audience.
Earlier this year, they were finally allowed to have 4500 watts daytime, 300 watts nighttime. This made a remarkable improvement. Then, the ground wires were stolen from one tower (at least), causing a marked degradation. This has been fixed. An optimod is also being used, making the signal "brighter". They are not using the IBOC tunnel sound, either.
I think they have done a remarkable job, and I blame darksoldier for that.
BTW darksoldier, did I leave anything out? I'm very proud of what you've done.
