Smooth Jazz Back (Kinda) in New York?

According to RD member "Just call me Ralph.", he says he brought "TED Radio Smooth Jazz" to WRKL 910 and WLIM 1580 (which WLIM barely gets Queens, and WRKL gets Bronx and Manhattan OK, and Brooklyn barely). In Brooklyn, I can't really get any of them (maybe 910 at night), but can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

I am hoping that after the holiday season is over smooth jazz will return to 102.7 HD2. I am one of the few people who have a table HD radio. I think HD2 stations can be valuable if they preserve formats that have left terrestrial radio. There is always Watercolors on SiriusXM.

true oldies are on 95.5 HD2. And----
wonder if HD FM channels willl ever have DJ's. Probably not , or if they do, they
willl be boring, voicetracked jocks .,

WRKL 910 AM is still broadcasting a very eclectic mix of music under the Radio Ted banner. Among the genres I have heard are rock, pop, country, oldies, Christmas music, standards, and yes a bit of smooth jazz.
WLIM 1580 is extremely weak at my location. But it sounds like they are still playing continuous rock.
Does anyone know why both of these Polnet owned stations have not had regular formats, after about two months?
With regard to HD subchannels, the majority in the New York area do have at least some programming with DJ's. That includes all the ones that are broadcast by the Clear Channel stations (with the exception of LI Country on WALK HD2). But this is really a subject for another thread.

Smooth Jazz On WLIM / WRKL

Hello All… been having Login issues here.
Was having internet issues at the station too. Tonight around 5:30Pm I was Finally able to switch WRLK over to 100% Smooth Jazz… Last Weekend I was able to Hit The Island and Switch WLIM over to 100% Smooth Jazz.
Short Note: I am a Regional area Radio Engineer, I am also a recording , and Live Audio Engineer.. I tour all over the country with many of Todays internationally known Contemporary Smooth Jazz Artists..
Being Involved In this genre of the Music Industry. I know its a format thats really missing in a lot of places. especially when I mix sold out concerts, and the audience complains there are No stations supporting the format.
Radio TED started out and is still Just a filler Format for when I work on stations with no Clients or in-between Format changes. As the contract engineer for these stations, and With Permission of the station owners I was granted the approval to put on Radio TED. as a temporary Format. Knowing NY Metro area is missing Jazz.. Hence we now have it back Even though temporary. If your Into Jazz or just need a sound system, live remote recording. I can be reached Via my Audio Email : [email protected]

Had some issues with logging here had to re create my old account…
Besides being a Regional area Broadcast Engineer, I am also a Live/ Studio Audio Engineer.. I still Tour with many of Todays International Contemporary Smooth Jazz Artists. 2 stations I maintain. WRKL and WLIM are in what I will call it a maintenance state..
During this time, I have gotten permission to switch out the Format as I did not care for what was on the air. I Mix many sold out Jazz Concerts in the Tri-State area. and Tired of complaints From Concert audiences that there are No stations playing Smooth Jazz in the tri- State area.
Hence I have brought it back even though it may be only temporary.. It makes me feel good that I know That I have a listening audience compared to what was Playing..
As of Tonight I was able to Get WRKL running 100% Jazz genre, WLIM has been Running it a full week now.. So Enjoy it while its there..Radio TED can Be reached at: [email protected] for Comments off the boards..
