Smooth Jazz Gone In Ft. Myers?

According to published reports, WZJZ in Ft. Myers is changing to Move 100.1. If you go to their old site there is a link to smooth jazz but it looks very generic (like Dayton) and I couldn't figure out if it was internet, HD or what.

When they were fully staffed and on another frequency (107 something) they were a great sounding station.

Nock

I had a friend who worked there. They were a BA client so they started moving toward Smooth A/C..then got rid of everyone but Randi Bachman (middays) and went BA network about a year ago. Bachman, a dedicated lady who stuck it out, was shown the door on Friday with about the same level of graciousness they used on long time employees at KKSF and WNUA, but by then the station was a computer playing oldies and covers, which isn't even going over in the Grey Belt of Florida.

I went to the WZJZ website on Friday and saw her goodbye, written at 11:36 a.m. so she knew then. She said "goodbye for now and it's been fun talking to you every day". Like Harmonic said, Dayton's site has taken all the BA star's pages off their site so there might be a CC "Move" in that market. Sure would shake things up if they did.

Is BA/ Smooth Jazz Network still owned by CC. It's kind of like kicking your kids out of the house isn't it?

I don't know if they are connected anymore but they are birds of a feather. They each have their own agenda and don't be standing in the way or you could be in a serious world of hurt. Both are a fact of life that we need to deal with. CC probably gave BA more stations and business than they deserved or could have gotten on their own so what goes around comes around. It's very interesting to watch the decline of a great format and wonder where the tipping point is. That's where the majority of what's left finally changes format. I've said all along that we need to let go of the old way to be able to build the new way but it's still sad to watch. And has anyone in power noticed that KIFM in San Diego just keeps moving along? Why aren't stations looking to them for direction instead of the same old-same old gang? If Spock from Star Trek ever beamed down into a BA smooth jazz radio station today, the non-logic would kill him on the spot! Oh that's right, I'm trying to use logic and you can't use that and BA in the same sentence...so sorry.
