Smooth jazz in Madison

Sorry it took so long. Apparently the raings weren't good enough since it didn't last long. I enjoyed the format tho, and I wish Magic 98 would play it all day on Sundays, especially since WTUX is gone. There's no more mellow music in Madison except for Magic Sunday Morning.

The Smooth Jazz format on 96.3 never gained an audience because true jazz fans figured out almost immediately that there wasn't going to be much jazz on the station. The Van Morrison and BB King vocals were available elsewhere. Smooth Jazz as a format has always done best in markets with a sizable African-American population, which Madison is not. Smooth Jazz is currently the Fastest Dying format in radio. Stations all over the country are dropping it....just today, it was Atlanta. A couple of months ago, it was Philly. There have been many others in-between, so don't expect to hear it here.
