SMOOTH JAZZ IS BACK

I sounds as if KODA has replaced the "Love Songs" on its KODA-2 digital sub channel
with Smooth Jazz. At least that is what I am hearing on it now as of 7AM Monday.

Old Chicago

There was a plug on Sunny's homepage, roughly 2 weeks ago, saying the Smooth Jazz was back on Sunday mornings from 8-noon and also streaming on their HD-2 channel, all the time. I hadn't checked to see how it sounded or how wide their HD-2 playlist appeared to be, but they've been plugging the HD-2 channel's switch to Jazz for a little while now, at least. Sappy love songs on the HD-2 are a thing of the past and they look to be giving the audience what they've craved with the addition of the Jazz format.

Apparently, a lot of people still misses The Wave; As KHJZ dumped the Jazz for Trashy, Bubble-gum Pop Radio. Heck, They even changed their call letters-to KKHH.

Because you don't like Top40, it's "trashy"? nice.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of top 40 but if I had to choose, it would be KRBE, not be trashy bubble gum pop Hot 95.7. The song rotation on the station is ridiculous.

Their station vehicle is a 1994 Dodge Van. Not a really "hot" vehicle.

I started missing The Wave when they started playing all that crossover stuff. When The Wave first hit the air, they were terrific. Their initial ratings were good, too. But, in the usual CBS fashion, someone up there decided that it was time to fix something that wasn't broken. Enter the crossover tunes....music that you could hear anytime on Sunny. Their ratings tanked.

When a station that claims to be "Jazz" or "Smooth Jazz" plays "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins, that's when they lose their credilbility with me.

But does the listener care what the stations djs drive? I wouldn't if the station sounds great which I think it sounds like a great CHR as I listen to it online sometimes. If you want to talk about old station vehicles the TV news station here has old vehicles from way early then 1994. More like 1989 or 1990, sure its not much in years. What did people think Hot 95.7 would be driving around a brand new Hummer H3 or one of the Jeep models?
