Something IS missing from radio in Dallas/Fort Worth...

Emmis’ Smooth Jazz WQCD (CD101.9)/New York rises 3.0-3.3 12+ to rank 11th; is 10th 25-54; and third 35-64. Clear Channel’s Smooth Jazz WNUA/Chicago holds at 4.2 12+ for fifth; ranks sixth 25-54; and is tied for third 35-64. CBS Radio’s Smooth Jazz KTWV (the Wave)/Los Angeles climbs 3.1-3.5 for a tie at eighth; ranks 11th 25-54; and is tied for No. 1 35-64. Way to go! 8)

Don't forget to include:

CBS Smooth Jazz the Wave in Houston is not in the top 15 in cume, 6+, 12+ 18-49, or 25-54.

If you point a large antenna enough away from the Waco 95.7 and put the Greenville 95.7 in the side null, you CAN get KHJZ. I've done it. It is pretty reliable - one of two Houstons you can get here.

where is that twiddling my thumbs emoticon? you know, the one signaling a hand gesture for a corporation to bring jazz back and the other hand gesture directed at CBS for taking it away. ;D

This means nothing. You are looking at this in a vacuume. Smooth Jazz was in Dallas, for a long time...did nothing. Why do we need it back? [EDIT]

The market has spoken, no one cares, except 5 of you here. I don't think you are going to get much traction on this.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

But by next year, all of those markets will be PPM measured, and that will be the benchmark for format change or retention now.

The PPM's have apparently not been kind to KHJZ, thus increasing speculation for "Movin" to a "Fresh" format. I think the odds are somewhat against it, but would not be a surprise if it indeed happens.

CBS Radio’s WVMV/Detroit rises 4.4-4.6 from seventh to a tie for sixth 12+; ranks fifth 25-54; and is third 35-64.

Lincoln Financial Media’s KIFM/San Diego dips a half-share, from 5.1-4.6, to drop from No. 1 to third 12+; ranks ninth 25-54; and is third 35-64.

hey, at least his dimwitted retort brought DE back to the fold. Welcome back, stat guy ;D

As for the hating, you're right... SJ was in DFW, until it wasn't SJ anymore with the addition of Luther, Kenny Loggins and the Carpenters.

This was a textbook case of CONsultants whizzing on the flies in the ointment. It was true jazz, then became liquidated but wait... let's fight the power and "new age" favorites like Yanni, Bernard Koch and even John Tesh. Then, they went and got "Musical Starstreams" and thought they found a niche...

Until, the whizzing continued and the playlist became this stream of swamp water YOU affectionately call KOAI. For most of us, that station was more than that, but then again, you are probably the kind of guy who likes to focus on the last fledgling months of a format rather than the few nice years it had. Betcha you wouldn't be so hard on your sentimental favorite format, KAAM. You know, something like that. ::)
