Smooth Jazz returns to Denver why not DFW?

Since none of the chains here seem to want to step up, it might have to be an independent owner that actually likes the format enough to start or buy a station for us. Otherwise, we'll have to continue to rely on XM/Sirius and distant markets' webcasts, and the old standby KNTU.

Agree with Bojangles...no one cares.

while at a major jazz label we couldn't get support from The Oasis unless it was Dave Koz....just like the music biz...jazz is a dying format.

Tell that to Chicago, LA, Phoenix, Miami, San Francisco, Detroit, San Diego, Tampa, Seattle and Las Vegas

What is their numbers...I call and tell them. Radio is a dying product dude....just like jazz

Can someone tell me what station in Denver they're talking about? There's no 100.9, not even a close rimshot. Also, how can they upgrade to full city coverage in Denver with KOSI at 101.1?

The only 100.9 I can find is KNEC in Yuma, CO and that is about 140 miles away.

I know I'm just a radio listener who really isn't welcomed to post here....but I feel like I should make a comment about the following:

I really want to sympathize with the people who miss their smooth-jazz radio, but I'm having great difficulty doing so when, for years, people tell me:

--Quit whining, Rock is dead (in response to losing yet another rock station to Spanish Language, Country and Western, or Religious Programming....been happening for years).

--Quit whining, No one wants to hear news, or Rush Limbaugh gives us all the news we ever need <sic!> (in response to something like KEWS being flipped to country, then religious).

I've had to put up with 'Quit whining' for years, and I've had to move on to CDs, etc., if I've wanted to hear the stuff I like. So, quite frankly, I don't understand why smooth-jazz disappearing is a national calamity that deserves to be brought up in every other thread (so it seems to me). Maybe I'll have some sympathy for the smooth-jazz radio fans if they don't have their format for a few years.....After all, I had to wait at least 2 years before some semblance of a decent rock station came back to the area (Say what you will, but at least to me, KEGL going back to Rock was the best radio I've heard in quite some time...finally). Wonder how long I have to wait before we get 24 hour news back (Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath).

So, why should smooth-jazz give preferential treatment/whining when there are other types of us listeners who have had to do without our music/news for a number of years?

I'm not sure, but it may actually 101.9, which moved into Colorado Springs a few years ago. It was the number one country station in the Springs for years as "CS-102." However, I thought Marathon sold it a few years ago.

They sold it to Bustos Media and it's currently Spanish as La Gran D. As for KNEC as far as I know they are Adult Contempoary. So the 101.9 signal might be the one to go Smooth Jazz.

"Smooth Jazz" is not Jazz.

"Smooth Jazz" is Muzak, only uglier.

"Smooth Jazz" is simply an excuse for 50-something white men to be photographed sitting barefoot on top of a grand piano, holding an alto sax while wearing white linen pants.

Nobody sets out in life to be a "Smooth Jazz" musician.

Radio sucks bad enough as it is without bringing in some more milquetoast, boring, unimaginative drivel. Leave that crap for Medication Time down at the state ward.
