Smooth Jazz song called "Tailspin" ...does anyone know it?

This is another song I've been hearing on the music automation system at work. It's quite catchy. All instrumental. Typical smooth jazz fare. The hook has cool kind of a backward sound effect which is probably why it's called "Tailspin."

Any guesses as to the artist?

Thanks

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

I'm resurrecting this post from 2 years ago to see if anyone new has ever heard of this song and might be able to tell me who the artist is.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

Definately contemporary. I'm guessing it's from the early-to-mid 2000s. Possibly late '90s, but I doubt it's older than that.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

I checked out every song with the title Tailspin on iTunes and didn't hear anything like what you described. You may want to check it out yourself and see.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

I don't have iTunes anymore. I deleted it so I could run MusicMatch Jukebox. But at one time I did check every song with that title on allmusic.com and none of them was the one I was looking for.

In case anyone is wondering, yes I'm sure the song was called "Tailspin" because the music system we had where I used to work did show the title of the song playing on the display unit. Unfortunately it didn't show the artist.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

hang in there RMarino. i know all too well the frustration of such a situation. to make you feel better and to encourage you to keep trying, back somewhere around 1985, i heard an amazing, simply amazing instrumental version of the old roberta flack tune "feel like making love" on a beautiful music station. well of course beautiful music stations were all canned so the artist was never announced. calls to the station went unanswered. when the internet age came about, i did numerous searches on all versions of that song. no luck. about two years ago, 20 years later, i stumbled upon it on an internet radio station that gave the artist and song title on the now playing page. i fell off my chair. after 20 years i now knew it was bob james. sorry for the dumb long story. LOL keep trying.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

Thanks for the encouraging words "Interstate 78." Hopefully that will happen to me. Heck, there's another jazz song I've been looking for since the early '80s! It was a popular smooth jazz song and even used in TV commercials as background music. Unfortunately I have no idea of the title or artist. All I have is this melody in my head and I haven't heard the song on jazz radio since the mid '80s. I thought it was Spyro Gyra, but nothing on any of their greatest hits CDs matches. Oh well, maybe someday.

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

Invest in XM and watch the display. I was amazed last night what i was hearing. I have re found many tracks that I have forgotten thanks to Watercolors.

Nock

Re: Smooth Jazz song called \

Yes I have XM and Watercolors is great. It reminds me of a great smooth jazz station I used to listen to in the '80s and very early '90s, "102.5 The Wave" in Tampa.
