I just couldn't let this one go! We had some interests in the market back in the 70's. I won't go any deeper for various reasons. One of the stations we were very familiar with was WVAM. This was in the years just before Bixler's death. Bixler came to my attention due to his promotions. (I am always interested in anyone who can promote, especially using unusual means!) This was also during the time of the WVAM revolving door policy. Several PD's went thru that door and my sources tell of one common denominator...the snake who wanted the job. The snake would speard stories around the station about the PD at the time, stories which would p---off the front office, the secretaries, engineering etc. On another matter, there were several former employees who were contacted by the regulators regarding political billing, false affidavits, double billing etc. To the best of my knowledge there was limited or no inquiries made of an engineering nature, just the business end. Eventually the snake got the PD job he wanted. But the handwriting was on the wall. He became the king of nothing. Dick D'Andrea was the Dick Clark of the market. We had a few encounters and they were always pleasant. I enjoyed all the stories about him. I think his sister workerd at WVAM too. I don't remember her air name. But time marches on. We never moved forward on our plans and we've kind of shut the door on any possible interests in that area. Sorry to be somewhat vague but sometimes its needed!
Eventually Mr. Snake will need to answer for his little boy shenanigans!
