Snap 103.7 in Lafayette also shifts to mainstream rock.

Sound like the mix is about about a 60% classic rock 40% new rock blend. References to "classic rock" in the imaging are gone. Even heard some alternative like The Strokes. I almost swerved off the road when I heard "Cadillac One" from punk group GBH. They play a heavy dose of 80s hair too. They are still syndicating Alice Coopers bland show at night. Overall of Lafayette's 3 rock stations id say Snap is the best and by far most adventurous. It almost reminds me of the late great 100.7 the Tiger from their mainstream rock days.

What I want to know is what made two stations over night basically flip to mainstream rock? Unless Rock 93.7 had a extremely killer book, I think planet radio I could understand but to have another?

Now we just need a few out here in SE louisiana and a definite redo of KZMZ up in Alexandria...

How is this "news" of any significance? I am sure they will be flipping to polka or traditional Irish music if someone else can make a dent in the ratings so they can copy them too. Here is the deal Planet Radio has pretty much always sucked. They were literally the only station in town that played "some" rock music that was aimed at people under the age of 30. I say "some" rock music because they also played alternative. All of a sudden they decide go "butch" and start playing music with testosterone. That's cool, but you have just alienated your loyal audience of nearly 15 years. You are going to lose them in addition to all the listeners you have lost from you recent signal swap to a weaker and soon to be sold off stick.

Everyone knows that WDGL The Eagle at 98.1 comes into Lafayette louder and clearer than Planet's current singal at 105.1 or their former signal at 96.5. 88.7 The Mustang can not compete with anyone in the market. They change formats every 6 months or so and their signal sucks. Planet Radio has nothing to fear from them. KRDJ and WDGL have nothing to worry about from either of those pea shooters, whose signals can't penetrate a wet paper bag.

The Mustang that the previous poster speaks of is not 88.7..if you would do your homework you would know that 88.7 is KRVS...The Mustang is 87.7 and from what i hear on their radio station it does not seem like they are trying to compete with 105.1 or 93.7. They play solid goldie oldies with a lot of Louisiana stuff thrown in. The Morning show with Big Al tends to be slided a little more toward the Louisiana artists and classic country. Snap 103.7 is doing a fine job, and will eventually be able to compete with other Acadiana rock stations. Watch out, there is another cluster of radio stations situating themselves to take over, Delta Media.

Mustang can accomplish alot in 3 years - and Chatelain can always find another frequency to put the format on (can anyone say Pittman?)

Perhaps the rumor of 93.7 going Talk is what spurred Snap 103.7 to shift directions somewhat.....

They (103.7) certainly have an eclectic mix of rock.......

Heres a sample hour....

Alone Again - Dokken
Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down
Send Me An Angel - The Scorpions
Battery - Metallica
Otherside -Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Under Pressure - Queen
Sound Of Winter - Bush
Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh
Shake me - Cinderella
Come As You Are - Nirvana
Bang Your Head - Quiet Riot
Offspring - Hit That
