SNL comes back strong (Spoiler for west coast viewers)

Saturday Night Live aired tonite for the first time since early November because of the writer's strike and this was one of the better episodes.

The guest host was former SNL cast member/head writer Tina Fey who did a great job.

Frequent guest host Steve Martin "dropped by" to help Tina with the monologue.

"Obama Girl" (I'm not sure if it was the real Obama Girl although Tina thanked her at the end of the show) appeared in a sketch.

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee had a guest shot on the Weekend Update anchor desk with Amy and Seth and was very funny.

Musical guest Carrie Underwood looked gorgeous as usual and sounded terrific and, what few times I've seen her on tv, seemed much more animated than usual.

And longtime SNL/NBC announcer Don Pardo (44 years with NBC!!) was given a birthday cake at the end of the show...he turned 90 yesterday!!

I believe SNL is going with 4 live weeks in a row which is very unusual for them. Hopefully, the next 3 weeks are as good as tonight's show.

Thank you Don Pardo!

Actually it's 64 years.

60 (1944-2004) on NBC staff until retiring and four under contract to SNL.

he is the legend for all us who inspire to be our own Pardo

I missed it is NBC going to post it up on their video site

Go to the SNL page on NBC.com. They have several clips from last night's show. I haven't checked youtube but I would imagine some clips might make it there too.

You know? This was the first new SNL in years to make me honestly laugh from start to finsih. Every single sketch was funny.

Also did anyone noticed the cast change? Maya Rudolf was missing and there was a new featured player.

I did notice the new featured player and she was mentioned in the intro's by Don Pardo but I can't say that I recall noticing that Maya wasn't there. Was she in the intro's at all? I could swear she was at least in one of the pre-taped things.

The newbie was actually in alot of stuff yet longtime vet Darrell Hammond didnt appear until after midnight and that was just in the Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice skit which was about the lamest thing all night.

I kinda like the new girl myself. I think her name is Carey Wilson. As for Maya Rudolph, I don't think she's coming back.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica of our time, Wikipedia, Maya Rudolph has left SNL. Even though NBC is trying to build/add to its website, it's very poor and still has Maya and doesn't have Casey Wilson (correct spelling).
