SNL F-Bomb

At about the 1:14, during the season premiere of SNL "Biker Chick Chat" sketch the f-bomb I think the f-bomb was dropped.

I know that Johnny Rockett was fired when the first f-bombed was dropped on live tv.

Is this the only second time the f-bomb was dropped? What will be the fallout from this dropping?

Actually, it was the late Charles Rocket that was fired when he dropped the f-bomb.....

They must have done the sketch over after the live show (or used the
dress rehearsal version) and inserted it into the subsequent Mountain
and left coast feeds, as it ran sans F-bomb in Phoenix a few minutes
ago.

I believe KPNX Mesa airs the Mountain Time Zone feed (delayed one hour)
rather than live ET/CT feed delayed two hours. I say that because it
always has the "recorded from an earlier live telecast" font at the top of
the show.

Left coasters: let us know what you hear--or don't hear--when the sketch
airs around 12:43-12:44 PT.

None, because it happened after 12:30. And I thought this show was on a delay? I guess not!

I might have been watching that SNL back in 1981 because Charlene Tilton was the host and I was a big Dallas fan. When the late Charles Rocket dropped the F-Bomb it was at the end of the show during 'good night' segment. Most media watchers think that was the straw that broke the camel's back because SNL wasn't doing well and change was needed.

Also back in 2004 Colin Farrell said during the closing credits "I sh!t you not!" That was played during the "Arizona" feed because I remember hearing and not believing he said it plus one of the singers standing behind Farrell looked shocked then started laughing.

I think I heard it twice I'm on the left coast (Seattle) and KING 5 didn't even bleep it

I've just discovered something interesting about KING-TV Seattle (subject to
the accuracy of the times shown in the zap2it.com listings for the station).

Their 11 PM news on Saturday runs 35 minutes, so instead of the normal
11:29 PM PT start for SNL, in Seattle it begins at 11:35 PT, which means
KING can't take the left coast feed but must record either of the earlier
feeds. And tonight they must have used the ET/CT feed from 8:29 PM,
and didn't discover the, uh, indiscretion or didn't hear about it from NBC.

Disclaimer:
In theory KING can't use the left coast feed, but I do know that some of
the current digital network delay units can take a program and delay it as
little as thirty seconds, so a six-minute delay is entirely possible. Whether
or not KING has such a unit is another question.

My reply:
I just don't get what the big deal is. I don't think swearing is a mature thing to do, but I mean c'mon. Isn't anyone MORE concerned with all the gratuitous violence on broadcast TV? Our priorities are completely backwards here folks.

You can cuss after 12:30?

Then they should consider doing it more often. It would improve the show.

I doubt you can. To me, that show dies once the Weekend Update segment is over with. I left it on a bit longer, probably due to Megan Fox.

Norm MacDonald f-bombed a few years back during his Weekend Update segment. He was sort of muttering under his breath to an off-camera producer or someone and said "What the F--- was that?" and immediately realized his mistake. Didn't mention anything about it until the following week when he said "Finally, if I get fired for cursing on the air last week...".

Eventually, he did get fired but that was supposedly because Don Ohlemeyer didn't think Norm was funny and got tired of Norm making jokes about his good friend (and got-away-with-double-homicide suspect) OJ Simpson.

The bomb was well far after watershed during a show that practically bored me into a coma with it's lack of funny. Seriously, SNL's premiere was awful. Even the utterance of "F$@kin" couldn't save it.

Then again, we are talking about it now.

HOLY CRAP!
I just saw it on on tivo, hadn't been reading the boards, so I didn't know about it. When it first happened, I had to stop and play it back, and sure enough, she did it, and right after she made a face, and it was clearly a screw up. I felt bad for the poor girl, but she kept going and finished the sketch. I hope she's okay, that could be a nasty fine...

Funny how we are talking about the "F" Bomb and Saturday Night Live today considering that chances are within the next ten years the "F" word will be as common on "SNL" as "...LIVE FROM NEW YORK IT'S......."

Would the world come to an end if it was?

I'm not surprise this happen since the majority of the skit they said "freaking". I get what they were parodying, but it wasn't funny to me. Then again, I haven't watched a regular SNL in its entirety since '05.

Only the U2, 'Weekend Update' and Kenan Thompson segments were worth watching. Thompson isn't exactly hilariously funny, but compared to rest of the suckfest that was this week's episode, he was clearly the best thing in the comedy portion of the show!
Megan Fox is nice eye candy, but that's about it.

Glad I missed the show.

I would hope that under the Obama administration, the FCC would not levy fines for accidental utterances of profanity. This isn't 1955 - people hear these words on the street every day. Not even the most innocent little child is unaware of these words, and they're not going to turn into deviants or delinquents if they hear the words uttered on TV from time to time.

The fuss over swear words is especially ludicrous considering how racy modern programming has become. Courtney Cox gave a man a b*** job on Cougars last week on ABC prime time. It wasn't shown, of course, only strongly implied.

I think its fine that profanity is generally prohibited on broadcast TV, but we need to have some perspective, and forget about the occasional mistakes.

Considering what took place on most episodes of "NYPD Blue" on that same network, I'd consider that an improvement!

These so called "DIRTY WORDS" are really dated. Everyone knows what they are. Everyone hears them every day. Most people use them every day. I don't understand the big deal. They should just be allowed on TV.
