SNL

When does SNL via Lorne Michaels/NBC announce the cast members for next season's Saturday Night Live? Any word if any of the big stars will not be returning?

Per an interview with Jimmy Fallon a year ago, he mentioned that most SNL cast members are signed on six year contracts with NBC nowadays, so chances are that things will stay the same.

But what about "Your Announcer, Don Pardo"? Supposedly he was to retire two seasons ago at 90-something, lol. I hope he comes back. He's one of the best.

Who knows what will happen with the show. I do think it needs to freshen up a bit. There were some promising moments, but it was still weak. I think six years is too long for someone to be on SNL, unless he or she is really deserving because of acting and talent. I would personally rather have Jason Sudeikis have a nine-year tenure instead of Fred Armisen. To me, Jason is funnier than Fred.

I'm guessing that Don Pardo made a deal to pre-record his announcements from the comfort of his retirement in Arizona. They used to fly him into New York weekly for the show, but that's got to be hard on a man of 90+ years, no matter how healthy and fit he is. So assuming I'm right, there's no reason for him to give it up, as long as his voice and health hold out.

SNL should go to an hour-long format. Have the musical guest(s) still have two numbers. Perhaps they could do more original shows that way...perhaps one in mid-summer.
