Snow - KIRO & KOMO

K

KXRX

Guest
I am sitting in snow impacted traffic in Seattle. I tuned in KIRO and they are talking about Dave Ross vacation and playing clips from Saturday Night Live. I tuned into KOMO and John was taking weather/traffic related calls.

WHY KIRO WHY? You are almost off my presets!!!!!!!!!!!

We have KOMO on up here in Bellingham. Not particularly a fan of John Carlson, but it's the best radio coverage out there......

I agree with that; I mean why else is KOMO called KOMO News Radio? Because they cover the news and not talk about dumb stuff like Saturday Night Live and Dave Ross' Vacation; they can do that stuff any time, but not during a major weather event.

Even KOMO slipped a bit (no pun intended) - at 11:30 they had an interview with Steve Moore of the WSJ which was no doubt pre-arranged. Bad move, KOMO. The weather is the news today.

As for KIRO - they've totally lost touch with reality. Listening to Ross & Burbank I felt like they were in their own little bright sunshine-y world.

KIRO as far as I'm concerned handed it's balls to KOMO when they HANDED KOMO the "Newsradio" moniker. Now KIRO is just hanging around like a once-famous silent movie actress at the 1965 Oscars while KOMO is the only one of the two that actually sounds like they're serious about what they're doing......

I also noticed KIRO-FM HD seems to be down. Crappy reception on the analog may force me to change stations, and I may not change back. :-\

I'm worried about Paul Tosch's two-way radio, you can barely hear it through the static.....

Bundle in and like Crowski says, "Be safe..."

Kind of off topic, but why is KOMO off the air on the FM but on the air on the AM? Been like that for a while.

Where I live, KOMO-FM is blocked out by CBUF, Vancouver. But all along the Olympic peninsula, radio/TV stations that broadcast from hills/mountains were having problems the last few days because of the weather.....

It's on as of 7pm. The STL from Seattle to Olympia goes down quite frequently - that's why the FM can be down while the AM is fine.

I must admit..KIRO to me has become something like a traffic accident that I can't seem to take my eyes off of. The weather and traffic coverage this week was.....(what word am I looking for here?)...laughable..I have never, ever seen a broadcast outlet relentlessly throw shit against the wall like KIRO has done. Does anyone believe that some of its sticking..? Just asking..
