Snowstorm Coverage

WPRO-AM leading the way! Mobile reports from Dan Yorke, Colleen Lima stuck in traffic. Matt Allen with PD Paul G
taking calls from many drivers stuck in traffic, out of gas, or other sort of automotive issue. Buddy Cianci providing
continuous coverage (commentary) on WLNE. About the slow response of city/state DOT crews. Kudo's to WLNE
for taking phone calls from motorists stuck in traffic as well. And how many more months of winter weather are yet too come?

I have to agree. It's been the sort of coverage that any significant TV or radio station used to routinely provide for storm coverage. Now it's much more the exception than the norm.

A tip of the hat to Channel 6 and WPRO AM.

I agree....I would be curious to compare all the live statons vs the voice tracked ones as to the extent of the coverage. I didn't hear much of any providence stations as i was on the cape, but Fun 107 seemed like they had cancellations live all day, and they aired alot of callers. Cool 102 was live and up to the minute i think.

How was B-101 doing with thier almost 24 hour a day voice tracking system? Pro-Fm any help with info?

Kids still stuck inside Providence schools. And on school buses (according to channel 6). Why hasn't the LT. Gov
called a news conference? Motorists running out of gas. Having medical issues etc... Why hasn't RI EMA been activated?

I know the Governor Of RI is in Iraq. So who is in charge? Seems like the only poltician getting the word out
is Buddy Cianci. WE NEED STEVE LAFFEY NOW!!!!!

WPRO has excellent coverage. I am truly proud of that station today. I also think Paul and Matt make a great team. It's 9:44 PM and I'm listening now. Even though I like Michael Savage, I would more than welcome the Paul and Matt Show every night. This is good stuff!

I guess Yorke never made it in, but he tried hard enough. He was hilarious going ballistic on 146 south calling out license plates of vehicles driving in the breakdown lane. Between this travesty & the Blue Cross story he is going to be screaming in decibels never heard before tomorrow. Metro Traffic did a great job too. I don't think anyone who listens to talk radio won't be tuned in to 630 tomorrow. I can't compare it to what kind of coverage WHJJ had, but scanning around I think I heard Ed McMann telling people to drive carefully. Glad he said that or I never would have remembered to.

Its appreciated that you take notice. It was a long afternoon at Metro, especially when it took me 3 hours to get into teh city from Fall River. We were all kinda losing our minds in the office trying to keep track of all the incidents and closures, epsecially when they're coming in from every imaginable frequency on the scanner.

If things were that hectic, you could never tell by listening. David Belanger sounded totally in control. Nothing rushed. Nothing you couldn't understand. He said it was the worst traffic situation he's seen in 10 years of doing the job & advised people still at work to just stay there. You're all pros.

Ha, I trust you didn't listen to mine after Dave's last one at 6:20, man, I guess its the easily distractable part of me, but I tend to lose my concentration real easy. Feels like I stumbled over everythign in every report.

Dude, you did fine from where I was sitting on Rt 146S for the hour and 1/2 it took me to get from MSA to Admiral Str exit. I found it funny that Cicilline did all the local TV stations except for the one that actually stayed on the air covering everything until what time (I was outclearing the steps when they finally went to network) all because his petty hatred of the WPRO midday host...get set for fireworks not only 3-7 (if Matt is even on tonight b/c of the marathon he ran) but 10-7. This will be Buddy's coming out party

Nizam, if that was you doing reports last night while Paul & Matt were on you sounded fine. If you made the 3 hour trip from Fall River, you've got the work ethic too. You're a keeper.

Yeah, I see that now Jim. I guess I'm just overly critical of myself. :p

Question now is, with Citadel looking to sell, does this take WPRO off the block in regards to a sale, or does it put it on the block for sure, marketing it as a great station with high listener loyalty?

WPRO did a fine job. I'm looking forward to hearing Dan Yorke on Monday. This type of stuff. Should not of happened.
I remember back during The Blizzard Of 1978. Buddy & former Governor Garrahy. Had a few verbal battles. About snow plowing/removal efforts. But one thing was certain. You KNEW WHO WAS IN CHARGE OF THE STATE.

And the 30th anniversary of the '78 Blizzard is approaching fast! Channel 10 use to have footage on their
website. Not sure if its still there. But worth a peek, if it is.

WLNE. Great job! Right in the middle of stuck drivers on Orms Street. Great local content!!!!!!!!!
Keep pushing the talent! Make Jim Hummel the man crooked politicians dislike the most!! And roll with the local stories!

Props to all at Metro! Mike Sheridan staying late!

Yeah, we're right next door to WLNE, and believe me it was not pretty anywhere in the city.

All of us stayed late really, Dave and myself took off at 9 or so, but I beleive Mike and Jay were there much later.
