SNR Drops "2 Live Stews" For Rome Disciple

That show has really disappointed in terms of what people thought they might become back in say 2004, 2005. I don't think their audience has grown much at all during that span.

What is SNR now? the smack off network? I am not a big clone guy but Travis R. and Sean are way more entaining than alot of shows they are against.

they sound simular to "Fox Sports Radio"
But I think Fox Sports Radio is little better. For me, both are better than ESPN Radio.
For me, most shows on ESPN Radio are too dry.

Sorry, but "SuperStation KLAC..." err... Fox Sports Radio is simply awful beyond Tony Bruno and Ben Maller.

ESPN Radio has no redeeming values, and plays off of their name alone. It's a sports marketing tool that insults your intelligence.

SNR has had so many starts and stops over the past five years that they are mostly invisible. Imaging for a while sounded like the Ashwood-era FSR, which was also annoying but light years over what FSR has fallen to.

So, IMO, the status of sports radio in a nutshell is beyond desperate.

They do have Tim Brando which is probably their most well-known show. Their weekend stuff is the best of any network. Actually gives a great overview of the sports of the day, compared to ESPN which is a bunch of canned reports with their experts, hype, and NBA/baseball. Fox is even worse, with their talking heads.

In my market we get all three major networks, and Sporting News has the worst position. ESPN is carried full-time on 910 except for the local breaks in the afternoon, when it goes to 1450. Fox is on a translator FM plus a 5000-watt AM that clears all of their programming except afternoon drive and Dan Patrick, which is on the secondary ESPN.

SNR is stuck on the third sports AM, and afternoons aren't cleared while they frequently have sports programming days.

I think the only 3 ways to get into sports radio these days are:
former jock
former talk host from another network /(often combined with) former columnist
former Smack-Off winner/contestant

The Stews have found tremendous success on radio and tv, unlike some of you losers who continue to post negative comments and wish you had the ability to talk on the radio. Slamming successful radio hosts is your job and Leebo continues to look like a fool. I'm sure the Stews are losing sleep over your negative posts.

Have you gone insane. I never said anything about the 2-live Stews.. Sporting News is "Stepping their Game up" Putting some heat on your Boy JT.. JT will get Smoked by John Harris

If the Stews knew what they were doing they would be huge ESPN stars right now. They had every opportunity to make that transition but apparently blew it. I'm neither a fan or hater just an onlooker who is surprised that they are not a very big deal in 2011. I never would have guessed five years ago that they would be essentially irrelevant on the national stage today.

You're joking right? lol

the Stews failed when being run by a "black" radio company which was stunning and Sporting News is obviously looking to pay young guys looking for a "break" like Pendergrast and T Roge who are happy to have a job. This has nothing to do with better shows. Stews were too black and Sporting News is on life support just trying to stay on the air. These guys could do the best radio on the planet and it won't matter because stations can't dump ESPN or FSR to take their shows. Hello Hattiesburg!

Yeah so if you win multiple smack offs you get a show? I just feel the ''smack'' style of sports radio is more than played out. I find myself not as fired up to listen to a certain program as I did in the past. Colin Cowherd can bite me for thumbing his nose at the Stanley Cup final.

It also helps to coin the term for the event. T-Rog breaking out is no surprise, he always was the power behind the throne. Sean is a mild surprise, but then again if you have enough chops for a station in a top 20 market to take a flier on you and prove them right in their faith in you then you have the ability to work on a national level.

As for the 'smack' style being played out I disagree because all 'smack' means is to be outspoken, and sports in the modern age ever since Cosell and Ali became household names has been all about being outspoken. That is the problem with sport journalism in general, everyone is afraid of offending someone so every comment is tempered lest someone lose access. And that is why I think many sports talk stations fail, no one wants to hear half hearted opinions.Think about this, no one remembers what Mike and Mike say on a daily basis, but people make reference to comments that the likes of Cowherd, Finebaum and Rome made years ago on a daily basis, ok not many people, but say 'have a take and don't suck' and anyone with a cursory knowledge of the sports talk genre will know exactly what you are talking about.
