SNY - Missing from COMCAST

SNY is missing from COMCAST in Bristol, Connecticut. SNY is on Channel 26 and since at least 5:30AM this morning there are color bars on the screen and it says "CDOC UPLINK". The digital box still lists all of SNY's programming.

I called Mom in Southington who is a COX customer and she told me SNY is on the air on Channel 62 where it's been since they added SNY in September.

All I know is Comcast better fix this before the next UCONN game schedule to air on SNY or else there phone is gonna be ringing off the hook.

Around 1/1 we started getting SNY in northeastern MA. All programming has been aired, for the most part, including UConn games and other Big East games. Last Saturday I turn it on at 11:58 to watch UConn vs Louisville. Whatever show was on ahead of time was ending then I get a message saying that the game is not available in my area because it is available via a "league package" (ESPN Full Court). Well, I can't get full court in my area and have seen 5 or so games in the last month. So I call Comcast...

Comcast tells me that SNY has not ever and will never be available in my area. I tell them that it certainly has been, and was just moments before.

Comcast then says that I probably have a box from some other part of the country and it needs to be replaced. I explain that I have had this box for 5+ years and only got this channel a month or so ago, besides, SNY was not on air yet when I got this box (I believe).

Comcast explains that it must be a "pirate broadcast". I do not understand how one can have a pirate broadcast on digital cable but let that go and explain that this is unlikely because it is showing up on my guide. I would assume that a pirate broadcast would be on a channel I would not otherwise receive.

Their next explanation is that the game is on Full Court so I can't see it. Now we are getting some where. I ask why this is suddenly the case when on the following dates (and I list them) I could watch UConn games on SNY when they were also on Full Court...That thoroughly confused the customer rep.

Then he directs me to their website and has me look at the channel line up to "prove" to me (his term) that I shouldn't get this channel. I see that it is not listed but it IS listed in my grid, I have just been watching it and, oh, MTN is also not listed on their website but I have that one too. He asks if I can see anything on MTN, I say yes I can. Well, "why don't you watch the game on that one?" Ummm, because it is not on that channel? I wanted to scream.

All I wanted to know is why can I suddenly not watch the UConn games?! Was my question so difficult?

This is one of the reasons I went back to an off-air signal and dropped pay-tv. Comcast is the pits and we can only imagine how much worse it will get with the NBC merger!

It's Comcrapstic!

The irony is that Comcast is a part-owner of SNY, along with Time Warner and the New York Mets, who, incidentally, are currently in the midst of some financial red tape of their own at the moment... And now they're pleading the "you're receiving a pirate broadcast" defense? They may as well blame that on Bernie Madoff, too...

And can you imagine if the Jets made it to the Super Bowl this year, and SNY (the "TV home of the Jets" with hours of programming) was not available? Then, there'd be hell to pay.

well here in mass i alsom get sny but there are parts of the day it says off air i also get comcrap bay area which when the nba game comes on it shuts off as well what is the point of these channels if 75 percent of the day its either paid programming or off air!! comcrap sucks and that's why i wish i could fios where i live. i cant belive how poorly they treated you onthe phone i would call and complain and try to get full court for free lol

SNY came back in Connecticut around 1PM when I found out about Antenna TV from their Facebook page. I was thinking wouldn't it be funny if they added a new channel and didn't notice one of their other channels was missing.

I'm not exactly fond of Comcast, but I can't get U-Verse here. Plus if I could go to U-Verse I'd lose Hallmark Channel. I like I Love Lucy, Who's the Boss, and Golden Girls. Hallmark has been off of U-Verse since the end of August.

As for switching to DIRECTV, I'm not giving up by SubChannels. SubChannels aren't carried on either of the satellite providers. I just got Antenna TV today. And I like the Eyewitness News Now Channel because I can get a weather report anytime. It comes in handy because I work at a dance club 2 or 3 nights a week and don't get home until way after the 11PM News is over and Channel 3 dropped the 2:07AM rebroadcast of the 11PM News.

SNY only airs 13 UCONN games from ESPNplus with the rest of UCONN's games airing on ESPN and ESPN2. Also ESPN U airs 4 games and CBS aired 1.

It's been a week since my incident. I have been able to watch every college game live on SNY regardless of its availability on Full Court. Still not clear why last Saturday's UConn vs Louisville game was blocked...

Today my wife had an incident with Comcast, only this was face-to-face. We live in a condo complex with numbered spots which correspond to our condo number. She came home to find a Comcast van parked in her spot. She sees the worker and asks if he'd mind moving it as it is her spot. He says he's busy and she should park in one of the other spots. My wife calmly explains that this is her spot as indicated by the number and he should have placed his van in a visitor's spot. He replies, "I don't know where those are." She points them out. He then says that there is nothing saying not to park in numbered spots. Nothing, except for the sign about four feet to his left. Then he got all huffed up because she had "wasted so much of his time". If he had moved to a visitor's spot, it would have taken a lot less time than it did to have the conversation.

She got his van number, called Comcast to complain and they said there is nothing they can do about where their vans park. She shook her head and suggested they make basic reading skills something they look for in their employees.
