So 104.9 WWLS is flipping to KKWD 97.9

A few questions....

Any word on what is happening with Wild 97.9?

Are they going to be on 104.9? Does the sports animal move its HD signal to KKWD?

Is Citadel going to try something else with 104.9? Haven't seen anything on Wild's end that they are flipping to 104.9? The stations have nearly the same coverage area, so I don't see the advantage to flipping...

Well nothing will happen unless Citadel has to sell 105.3 and 104.9 in a trust do to the ABC and Citadel merger. If Citadel has to sell 104.9 you would be stupid not to move WWLS-FM to 97.9 and Wild has a better signal then 104.9 just not Southside OKC anymore thanks to 97.9 lawton

Wild's website says it's moving to 104.9. Not sure about HD radio. Wild's website implies 97.9 is not HD but doesn't state it at this point. As for the advantage to flipping, as the other poster mentioned, there's probably not much of an advantage at this point in time unless a station or two gets sold as a result of the ABC deal. However, I seem to recall that there's a proposal with the FCC to move 97.9 to 98.1 and relicense it to the Village. It involves changes to multiple stations in Oklahoma.

Just posted it..from Wild979.com

WILD 97.9 Is MOVIN' ON UP TO WILD 104.9
OKC'S 18 In A Row Channel, WILD 97.9 is moving. No, not out of town just up the dial to WILD 104.9! That's right WILD's got a new address at WILD 104.9 beginning Monday October 23rd. Keep listening for more info and preset your radio NOW to WILD 104.9. ..... WILD 104.9 beginning Monday October 23rd. Wild 97.9 makes the move to HD Radio on WILD 104.9! Stay WILD...

I don't see what the difference would be given that the coverage is just about the same and that 104.9 is in HD. I hope they tweak the format a litte also.

I was kind of hoping Citadel would leave Wild at 97.9 since there's a proposal to move it to 98.1 along with better coverage over OKC, I was looking forward to Wild 98.1 but now it looks like The Sports Animal is now going to take that coverage. Also, 104.9 can't be upgraded since there are quite a few other stations in Oklahoma on 104.9.

So when the ABC/Citadel merger goes through Wild 104.9 along with 105.3 is gonna be sold to a different owner. Speaking of 105.3 are they simulcasting with Wild or with WWLS?

You know what, I don't know why I was thinking that 105.3 was simulcasting with any station, when the station is Spanish. My Badd ;D
