So after all that 'Hype' the ratings 'Scandal' meant nothing.

WPRO lost ZERO Ad sponsers. Depetro has his job. most people don't even know it happened.
Thoughts, comments?

Get your cheap airtime, here! Cheap airtime!

You wouldn't notice sponsors leaving up until this week as most spots are sold a week or 2 in advance (sometimes longer if you have a good sales staff)

Alfie,

Your information is faulty!! One of the largest ad agencies in the market has pulled all advertising of DePetro's show until further notice. This actually forced Citadel to finally point the finger at poor Mrs. DePetro. The sales department has to begin every sales call by apologizing for the scandal, and numerous buys have gone to the competetion from many advertisers who don't want to be affiliated with WPRO.

And I would also expect Johnny to be on Double Secret Probation at this point and one slip up, out the door! I would think that when his contract comes up for renewal, it will not be renewed or if it is, at a lower salary to make up for the lost revenue....

Zach,
which agency? what advertisers have gone to the competition? Anyone can make things up. Name names. What competition? WHJJ?
I hear he same ads with Johnny every morning.

Okay YoYo,

Here's one. Pri Media, the market's largest local radio user pulled ALL of their advertising off DePetro's show. Why don't you ask Ed Valenti how he feels about WPRO and the antics of the DePetro family for this industry. Do you dare YoYo ?

Alright now, he just asked a question. A question I'm sure more people here had.

Problem is...people who have worked in the industry know how far in advance some ads are placed (especially with the Fall TV schedule upon us), so saying that nobody has pulled ads (unless yoyo is on the inside at the Trail doing the traffic scheduling or AM sales) is a silly thing to say...just because an ad schedule is still ongoing from the original buy doesn't mean that people are pulling ads or not placing ads on his show going forward.....

What puzzles me is why Arbitron hasn't rebuked WPRO.
The company has penalized other stations that were involved
in ratings fraud scandals. The PR people at Arbitron were
hostile when I asked the other day what would happen to
WPRO. "All we have to say about it was said in our news
release," the Arbitron flack said. Wouldn't you think the
company would want to sanction PRO to send a message
to others? Was someone paid off for this passivity?

In reality, stations like to say there is a two week cancellation policy. However, if a client says that they will not pay for ads running after they cancel, management will pull them after one day. To say there was no effect to this scandalous behavior by everyone involved is a lie, Citadel wants this to go away, and it hasn't.

Here's what I'd do. . .take the polygraph test right on the Dan York Show! Could you imagine the hype? This would be a ratings bonanza. Dan and John don't like one another. Run promo's for a week, invite TV. Will he bite at the poly offer?

Word has it that there is a new group out called Dump DePetro now that is putting together a website urging the public to insist that Johnny D be terminated. They are asking people to write letters to Citadel, and boycott John DePetro clients with a letter campaign until he is off the air.

Boycotting clients could do some damage but enough damage dollars-wise has already been done with the rates. Unless there are already talks behind the scenes to terminate him the only thing that will cause him to be dumped is if people don't listen and the station can cite poor ratings.

What's done is done.

If this was actually happening, someone would've grabbed www.DumpDePetro.com, which, at this hour, remains unclaimed.
If I were John, I'd grab the name, just to take it out of circulation.
$9.99 on GoDaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp?isc=cjcdom001b)

But what do I know?
For several years, when I owned www.GunsKill.com, and offered to sell it to the NRA, they never even responded.

Now, we begin again.
Arbitron's Fall 08 sweep -- 12 one-week surveys -- begins Thursday.
It's time to move on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFNCh_A7Zgw)
