So happy to listen to John and Ken today

I don't know if anyone listened to talk radio over the holidays. I tried to very briefly but was turned off so quickly.

I tuned into Handle and heard Bill Carroll one time and Hoffman another day and left after about 30 seconds. I tuned into J&K last week and heard about 12 seconds of that annoying Kennedy and tuned out. Even out of curiosity I tuned into Geraldo but he had some idiotic nut on there talking about his love of guns. That was enough of talk radio for me.

So the perception has been that talk radio is full of nuts, but I propose that compared with the people that are the fill-in's over the holidays, the regular's do not seem that bad after all. So I was surprised to hear J&K tonight and loved every minute of it. Being good union members, I imagined they would have returned back next week but it was a pleasant surprise.

I wonder when Handel returns?

Now New Yorkers can enjoy John + Ken, too - starting on Wed. 1/2 (the show referred to in this thread-starter) the 6-7pm PT hour is being simulcast on WOR NYC (9-10pm ET). Then John + Ken do an additional hour for WOR exclusively from 10-11pm ET (7-8pm PT).

If you just can't get enough J+K and want to hear the additional hour online:

Is that why John now abruptly ends the show with "This is the John and Ken Show", pauses, and then does the whole crossover thing with Conway before throwing it to the news? The part where he pauses must be the point where the WOR simulcast goes to break, and of course for WOR listeners it's not yet the end of the show so he can't even say "This is the John and Ken Show, we'll see you tomorrow". I imagine it sounds awkward to both KFI and WOR listeners, and it's why I hate simulcasts.

Here in the NY market it seems CC put John & Ken on WOR from 9-11 Eastern to counter Michael Savage whose show just moved to WABC in that time slot. Probably a good move. Both are good shows.

It will be interesting to see how CC's purchase of WOR pans out. WABC, except for Savage and the 5-6 am news hour, has never sounded worse. Where KABC has the McIntyre/Mumbles/Phillips mess, WABC has the Imus mess followed by the obligatory Rush/Hannity/Levin political play by play trilogy. Starting Monday, WOR will be live and local from 5 am to 2 pm, but then it descends into Dave Ramsey, TBA and Andy Dean until J&K at 9.

WABC has traditionally had about twice WOR's 12+ numbers despite often significant programming changes by both stations over the years. Will that change? Guess we'll have to stay tuned ...................

I sleep with John and Ken every night! ;) I listen to their daily show(s) depending upon how sleepy I am. Usually, I don't make it past the first fifteen minutes, of the first hour. I listen on the TUNE-IN APP on my smart phone, with the sleep timer. The next day, I can pick up where I left off and never run out of shows to listen to!
