So, How Do You Think Fox 967/Hits 103.1 Sounds?

I think it is sounding real good these days. Bob O. in the morning is ok, but I prefer John Roberts. Oh well. I'm glad the PM drive show is local. Even though Johnny Wolf isn't local, I still like his personality and on air performance. I am also glad Therese Quinn is gone. I wonder why they let go of Mike Eagan. Well, the station(s) are sounding very now days. The variety of music is great. Now it is more organized. What are your thoughts on the changes and how do you think the station sounds?
______________

I called WGNY's business office on Monday to ask why Mike and Therese aren't on the Early Morning Show anymore. I was told that they left the station. I wasn't told why. I think that music variety is okay, but it sounded a little weird to hear the Beattles' "Let It Be' on Hits. It took me a little getting used to hear the Station ID "Fox 96.7 and Hits 103.1", but the station is sounding a little better.

It's improved and not a bad idea to unite the two Orange county signals. I just do wish they would put the Yankees on 103.1 as well. 1220 AM has a real bad signal, Reeeaaaal Bad!! and 96.7 doesn't come in on the eastern side of Orange County.

Yeah, but Hits 103.1's focus is to play music.
______________

True, However they would get mileage by carrying the Yankees on FM. In the Newburgh area, you can't pick 94.3 FM from Kingston, 96.7 FM from Port Jervis, WGNY-AM's signal just plain sucks and WCBS comes in OK but not great (especially at night).

Do you think people in the area are desperate enough for the Yankees to be on the radio? If so, then it may be a good move for WGNY FM. I'm not sure though.
______________

You must have a bad radio...WCBS-880AM I can get almost anywhere even closer to Albany. (The exception being during a summer T-Storm ;) )

No! not a bad radio...I didn't say it comes in terrible, just not great, it's OK.

I think it may be worth a try for them. Judging by WGNY-FM's latest ratings in the Newburgh-Middletown book, doesn't seem many people are listening to them. They could use the Yankees a promotional booster. Plus most of the games are at night and it only involves 6 months out of the year.

More Good Things to Say About Fox and Hits

It is good that these stations are keeping in touch with the community. This weekend, there is the soapbox derby and a few other events that the station will be at. Also, they are serving the correct areas. When Clear Channel owned Fox 96.7, they were giving out news and information that didn't apply to Port Jervis area residents. They were mentioning schools during winter storms that aren't even in the signal's area.

John Roberts Now Host of Retro Saturday Night

Another update on WGNY/WTSX. John Roberts is now the host of Retro Saturday Night. Nice to have local talent instead of syndicated. Brian Curry was ok, but it is better local. Also, does anyone know what the weekend line up will be?
______________
