So how will "The Party" end and "The Game" begin?

still running the construction sounds at 11pm...along with various sports audio clips...
and...still stopping down for spots! how'd you like to explain to a client that their final
spots in their schedule ran during stunting?
wonder when the stereo pilot will be turned off?
Don't forget, they also ran traffic updates, too! (During the 6:00 p.m. hour)

As part of 102.5 Sinatra and Led Zeppelin stunting, I think they played a few hours of televison show themes too.
On the day of the actual changeover (August 29, 2008), they ran TV themes up until noon that day. The changeover to the Game occurs (officially, anyway) on August 29, 2011, so it will be three years to the day after Party 2.0 debuted.

Dang it. Does anyone have recorded audio of the construction starting Friday evening? I wanted to hear it. I'm a radio buff and this is the first format change that I ever knew about before it happened and had even set my alarm for 11:50 PM Sunday night to be listening at midnight when I thought the format change would be.
Official changeover occurs at 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

Didn't KDF play closing time? I say the Party should go out the same way it came in; with 24/7 MACARENA! Lead into the Game with "Put me in coach" by John Fogerty.

I think "Closing Time" was too soft for KDF, I don't I ever heard it on there.

"Centerfield" is, and will always be, a good baseball bumper, but not enough firepower to get people pumped up for a sports talk launch.

Here's something I didn't think of...they could use the audio of the Wayne's World street hockey scene..."GAME ON!!! GAME ON!!!"

102.5 threw Wayne & Garth into the stunt mix sometime yesterday...It looks like they caught on to my "Game" plan!!!

Fire-- some of that "stunting" was pretty risque. Surprising, but in it's own way, a riveting slight variation of the 106.7 flip from Sports. And one little glance at 102.5 The Party's Facebook page is a fun little read....

It won't be the same to not get to read all the comments on their page from our future leaders...

Just as it did when it began stunting on Friday afternoon, 102.5 WPRT-FM ended the stunting with the end part of "The Party's Over" by Journey repeating on a loop over and over. From that it went into "Are You Ready" by AC/DC, "Get Ready For This" by 2 Unlimited, "Break It Down" (WWF/WWE D-Generation X theme song), Bruce Buffer's "It's Time" intro from UFC, great transition from that into "The Game" by Motörhead (Triple H theme song in WWE), with that playing most of the way through before Darren McFarland cracked the mic as the first voice heard on the new 102.5 the Game, introducing their "First Quarter" morning show along with Brad Hopkins.

Sunday was interesting...lots of the "Party's Over" loop from Journey...then around 4pm,
no carrier at all (could occasionally faintly hear WOW Country 102.5 from Crossville).
Right now...they're replaying game 2 of the Preds/Anaheim playoff series. Network problem?

Not a network problem, unless by network problem you mean "they currently don't have one". They're filling the schedule with live play-by-play, new local content, and replays from Preds games (and replays of their own talk shows overnight) until they get the ESPN contract away from GFX piece-by-piece. Mike and Mike on tape delay will take over middays in mid-September, and then they have full rights to ESPN Radio in mid-November. Until then, though, it looks like patchwork.

They were off the air entirely during that time. I am guessing for maintenance work.

How are they wresting ESPN from Citadel?

Does seem a bit odd on first glance, since Citadel does still have a bit of a relationship with ESPN Radio in that Citadel Media Networks still provide some distribution for ESPN. But since they have no responsibility where it counts, syndication sales or advertising, ESPN is still for sale to the highest bidder, so to speak. As you recall, when 106.7 hit the Fan and/or kicked the bucket, no one picked up ESPN, because no one wanted to pay ESPN's exorbitant rates or deal with their must-carry rules. The Zone cooly said they weren't interested, then waited out the time it took for ESPN to approach them with an offer... after all ESPN wants to get its commercials air time if at all possible. So with no where else to go to find a customer, ESPN came to the Zone on the Zone's terms, but gave the Zone no rights to hold. Fast forward to The Game and the need to make a splash... Buddy boy anted up in terms of air time and money. The Zone wasn't even interested in giving the Game a fight, as again, they just really weren't getting a ton of use out of it because of all of their other programming.

The Zoners had already given thought to what might happen if they lose ESPN, so they aren't starting from scratch on a plan. However, I know there are people at Cumulus Corporate who might — although Citadel never did — consider expanding the offerings of ABC Radio Sports or set up regional shows to be carried on multiple Cumulus sports stations during off-peak hours/

The last song, before the stunting, ironically enough was Daughtry "Its Not Over"

Is the party going to start again on an FM translator, perhaps?

Interesting that they'll be allowed to air "Mike & Mike" on tape delay. Doesn't ESPN Radio mandate that affiliates clear that show live?
