So, I was messing with the I-HEART Radio app.....

Came across a Clear channel "Classic Hits station in Nevada I believe 94.1..3:15 our time ,1:15 mtn time.Heard "Im Alright" by Kenny loggins then Marc Coppala talking and Promote REO Speed Wagon was on Deck after break.......I then went to B101's playlist backed it up two hours just to see what they played 1:15 est.Same songs were played.I was told before if one station is playing "Im al right at 1:15 ALL of thier classic hits stations in the EST zone are in sync. and then by the time zone.

PC comes in daypart chunks from the PC team. A station orders 10-2, you get the 10-2 chunk for your format. If it's airing at 1:15 here, it's airing at 1:15 local time in other time zones.

It's not satellite fed, it's loaded into each station's NexGen from the hub. everything runs local time.

Sometimes on Coast I hear generic things like 'go to our station's website for more details', but other times I hear them be specific like 'win TSO tickets at the Dunkin' Donuts Center from Coast 93.3".

That Premium Choice (or lack thereof) for ya!

And Marc Coppola seems to be on virtually every Clear Channel classic hits and classic rock station. It's sad that this is what radio has become...

Some of the Premium Choice jocks record station-specific spots. They are often mixed into the generic stuff ("Go to our station's website..."). Coast seems to have a number of those station-specific spots; some of them mention listening to Toby Knapp in the morning or Kristen in the afternoon.

It depends on how you order it. A PD can request one or two (I know one who asks for 3) local breaks an hour. It takes a little extra effort to drop them in and segue them nicely, so most PD's skip the extra work.

If you hear local breaks by a PC jock, you know there's a hard-working PD behind the scenes.
