So if I want dance is it XM?

Which is the best choice XM? I havnt listened to either service in a long time, how does everyone like the mixshows? At first when I listened to them I thought they was a little borring, but it may be my only choice to escape from the hiphop of FM.

Here's my synopsis of The Beat vs. BPM:

The Beat: Kinda like what a local radio station should sound like if it were to adopt the dance format. No mixshows, but that's what Sirius' Remix channel is for. The Beat has plenty of remixes of pop hits, some R&B, some freestyle, and loads of dance hits.

BPM: XM's offering has hands down better music in my opinion. Wall to wall pure dance music, awesome mixshows. Doesn't have the feel of a terrestrial radio station, but that's what terrestrial radio stations are for.

Bottom line: Given the choice of "sounding like terrestrial radio" or "great music," I'll choose the latter each and every time.

You should sample both and decide which is for you. Not to be rude or anything but it seems kind of silly to me that people come on message boards asking which of these services are the best choice. It's really a matter of opinion and since your paying for it, you should decide for yourself. Taste in music as we all know is very subjective.

I believe that you can sample both of the services via their websites.

If you compare The Beat to BPM, the latter is also my choice. However one must not forget that Sirius offers one more straight out dance station and also a hybrid called Beatbox. Perhaps it could be said quality vs. quantity?
______________

Your description is somewhat accurate. The Beat is what a true FM dance station *should* sound like, without the commercials. I happen to prefer that FM or terrestrial sound (hell, that's why we're all here, right?). But, The Beat doesn't play any R&B. The only thing I've heard that's close to R&B is some Janet Jackson song (not remixed) that plays about once a month. If there is one thing you can say about The Beat, it's that they play just the hits. Good Time Marcus, the PD, really knows what he is doing when it comes to song selection. They are late on new music sometimes, but they also play songs BPM won't ever touch. And I've heard BPM addicts admit that The Beat tends to play better remixes then BPM does.

When I first got satellite radio, I got XM....I pretty much assumed they were the best. I got totally bored with BPM after a few days. They never played anything...good. Lousy six minute long remixes, obscure songs, and absolutely no DJ interaction at all. From what I've heard lately, things have changed a bit for the better over there. But I still prefer The Beat.

Those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Listen to both online and you will find out which is best for you.

You'll find a few songs that BPM plays like Basement Jaxx "Oh My Gosh" on Area 63. They also share some songs with BPM.

Why not just get Both and solve the problem? :)

Yes.. I agree with what Mr. Parker said... its all about whatever you prefer to listen to. Both services has their pro's and con's.. but I honestly think that Sirius has more variety than XM... I admit... BPM is much better than The Beat. However, I have heard A LOT of songs that BPM plays on other Sirius dance channels. Both services are playing the big records.. just not on one channel.

If you are the type that likes to keep the same station on.. then XM will be good for you... If you are the type that doesnt mind flipping through channels... then Sirius is for you. Either way... they both are great services.. and I really dont think you can go wrong with either of the two.
______________
