So is it possible to take on 770KKOB?

Well anything is possible now isn't it?
No current Talk station will ever beat KOB.
KOB has all the top syndicated host, they have 10a-1p locked up with Rush as he was #1 in his slot with a 14+ share. The station had only what a 9+ share so you see the rating power of Rush!
KOB has a Lock on Lobo Sports the only sports team people here care about.
KOB has the ONLY credible radio News and Traffic.
AGM WILL never invest the money needed to have a top notched news dept. When something local happens in this town people tune to KOB!
KAGM spent a lot of Money on Chris Jackson who left KOB what 5 years ago, all KOB did after he left was go up, so that was a Friend of Larry Hire that will not get ratings.
They hired another friend of Larry the Bean, while I love the Bean personally his ratings slid towards the end of his KOB-FM days and he is better suited for
a slot doing a morning team with Bobby Box. Box and The Bean
Diane just happened to be an anchor on KOAT-TV when it was #1 it was not #1 because she was there as there current #1 numbers show
Larry is the KAGM Money Pit. AGM did not do any type of research to see if Larry had a following. Just like Diane Larry was at the #1 station he was not the reason why it was #1 as a year of heavy marketing has proven.
Word on the street is the rank and file are saying Lee the PD will turn KAGM around, if he can do that he should be made Radio King of NM.
The most KAGM will get will be maybe a 3 share the same share they could get with a smooth Jazz station without the high payroll and if they are locked into
Larry for a few years he could do mornings on smooth jazz and then at least AGM will have a chance that Larry will get bored and leave the money behind.
The only jock in this town that could bring an audience is TJ on 94 rock
If you put a Rock station on with the same music and TJ then you will have a winner agm

Tony Lynn brought an audience when he changed stations. The Big I has topped KRST in the last 5 books plus, So I think that "jock in this town that could bring an audience club" has two members.

Good Point! Tony did help the launch but 5 years or so later Big I has a 3.5 share down from their hey day of 6 shares so Tony hase lost some with another country choice out there. He did have a lot to do with a great launch which just goes to show how pitifull Larry really is

From reading the articles in the Journal, Trib and NM Biz Weekly it looks like Mathis was not offered another position with the station and neither were the Red Menace guys but Dianne may be reassigned.
The schizo KAGM website lists "Dianne Anderson 10:00am - 2:00pm" on the 'Air Staff' page and "Glenn Beck 10:00am-12:00pm" on the 'What's On' page.
Perhaps the new Grandpa talk format they have taken on has given them senility.
