So... Is larry Dixon fired?

KLUV/Dallas Polishes Up Air Staff

KLUV PD Peter Z has made some minor adjustments to the air staff at the CBS Radio-owned Oldies station. John Summers moves up from evenings to the afternoon drive slot, replacing Larry Dixon, who had been doing afternoons at KLUV on a trial basis. Sandi Sharp will slide into the evening shift from overnights with Summers' promotion.

KLUV's morning show, featuring market veteran Jody Dean, also gets a little polish with the addition of Randy Capes as "Stunt Boy." "We're planning on using and abusing him to the full extent that the HR department will let us," Z tells R&R. Finally, Bernie "Mac" Moreland is joining the morning show as its producer and as Dean's sidekick. Moreland was most recently at WNDV/South Bend, IN, and he will also wear the hat of Imaging Director for the station.

Yes.

Oh, puhleeeeez....God, what will they
think of next? Originality, gotta' love it!

Three words that do not go together...Larry Dixon fired. Larry is a class act on and off the air. I'm certain we'll turn on the radio and hear him again very very soon.

Kicking Larry to the curb just doesn't make sense. Since John Summers doesn't mind gloating here, maybe he will enlighten us.

Larry is a pro. He will find his way. Larry does image liners and promos for KDOK in Tyler...great station and one of a dying breed. They are locally owned with a talented full-time airstaff, including my friend Paul Berry. Paul assured me that Larry will still be getting plenty of voice work.

> Yes.

Larry will probably be kept on the payroll doing weekends or something for a while until his contract is up or he finds another gig. Big mistake for KLUV.

The station is nothing but changes. They lose Ron, reduce Chuck, fire the GSM, move the LSM, lose the promotions director, and now all these.

I hope they fall into the same hole that KVIL, KRLD and KOAI are in. What a bunch of great broadcasters. Which list is better, the ones that used to work there or the ones still running it?

WOW........

They lost their promotions director? Didn't they recently (in the last 6 months) hire the lady formerly of The Ticket? Oh gesh. They do go through the employees. I guess that is everywhere though. Just sucks.

Larry is a great guy, and will continue to do part-time until he finds another full-time gig.

Is Kathy Jones in or out?

Kathy is still at KLUV. IMHO I think she has GREAT interaction with Jody and the rest. Hope she stays right where she is.

As stated in earlier posts, Craig Allen is out.

I believe the exact quote was "I would have fired that guy years ago if it had been up to me!"

HA!!!

Hmmmmm........well, lets see, if you actually know "facts" then why not state them when inquiring minds want to know. Especially when we all know how things get "twisted" sometimes.) Did I offend you? Did you want to "break the news"?) Have a nice Christmas!

You didn't offend me and I appreciate the facts from an "insider".
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all.
