So, is the Central Coast losing quite a few DJ's?

Just looking at the list of topics here there are a few firings and I heard of another in SLO...
Are the owners doing another round of shrinking right now?

I recently talked about wanting to get back into radio part-time...not for the money just for something to do and got shot down and told it is a bad time in radio right now.

I am surprised that stations in small markets even have DJ's anymore. I am surprised that all dayparts in markets like SLO are not voice tracked by sister stations in med/larger markets. For that matter I am surprised that more med markets are not being completely voice tracked by larger markets. How hard is it to have one person in each area do the research and mail it to the voice tracker and then have the voice tracker mail back the tracks and put them in the computers.

That is the main reason I quit radio as I saw that happening. I thought it would be a lot worse by now though.

Not many live local DJs anymore...

New Rock 107.3 just let go of the Mid-Day jock... haven't heard who they're replacing her with yet.

I know radio had been automated there for years, especially when all this started in the mid 80's or so... but did any station used live & local DJ's back then?

Lotus...

over the last 4-6 years we've seen less out of town VTers, and more in-house VTing. It's easier to have one jock that can swing multiple formats within their cluster...AND when you break it down to nickels and dimes (and you know they do), it is slightly more cost effective.

After the morning shows, everything IS voicetracked here except for the occasional one-hour feature for lunch or the drive home.

Good to see you here,
ex-Mondosphere guy ;)
