So long Jim...

Without sticking my head too far up anywhere it doesn't belong may I just say that I wish Jim Loftus all the best in his new position in the Land of Cheese Steaks.

There's been a handful of GM's at Shamrock over the years but by far it was my greatest pleasure to work for/with him.

And I guess those "pictures" won't be worth anything to me now.

LOL!

Seriously, best of luck, not that you'll need it Jim. Big shoes...

> In terms of longevity, Loftus has to be regarded as the Joe
Torre of Shamrock Broadcasting or for that matter, the local
radio GM circle. 8 and 1/2 years is a long time in
what used to be a revolving chair. He brought consistency and
stability to that broadcast group. Prior to coming to WARM,
(Susquehanna) Jim was at, I believe, WIFI 92. Best of luck to
him in Philadelphia.

P.S. By the way, Loftus' first day in broadcasting was July 5,
1977.

We'll all miss him greatly. Some of us at Shamrock have worked with Jim over 11 years!! (Between WARM and WTLQ).

By the way....Jim was last in Philly as LSM at Power99, WUSL; he was there a couple of different times; ironically, Jim's first call to Philly was at the same 98.1 facility as a sales rep at the station when it was Mike Joseph's "Hot Hits" (WCAU-FM) prior to oldies. This is technically his second stint at OGL/CAU-FM; from new sales rep to GM.....not bad!

Good Luck,

Kevin

That's right Kevin, it was Power 99. I stand corrected on that.
In the first mtg. he conducted at Shamrock, he alluded to the
sign on top of the Times building that read WEJL. He said that
sign meant, We Employ Jim Loftus.

I worked with Jim at WARM for a number of years when it was still Susquehanna-owned over in the building in Avoca. My experience with him was not a positive one. Having said that, I will nonetheless wish him luck in his new position.

Remember when he cut a bunch of jobs in the WARM cluster, farmed out some of the news responsibilities to WBRE Tv and had the nerve to call it "rightsizing"? Nice.

Remember when you never came close to having a management position and had no clue what happens at that level?

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Thanks Vepster. As per Jim, he will be sorely missed. If you had it in ya, he gave you a chance to grow with the company. Thanks Jim.

If you have to trim the payroll, fine-- but don't insult people with the "rightsizing" BS. Sometimes, it's best to say nothing, and I will now follow my own advice on this topic.

Jim brought me to NEPA, where I had a great 2-year run on Mornings at Oldies 92, met and married my wife who was here, he allowed me to stay doing mornings and buy a radio station across the street from the newspaper, I ended up buying a second station...and it's all because he brought me here.

No wonder why I hate him. Just kidding...best of luck in Philly with Infinity!
