No, they're not flipping... yet.

Geller's exiting. He was the best talent they had and now he's gone. Real nice. The All Access article didn't state whether or not it was his choice, but after the way things went down last month after the Cumulus takeover, I'll be honest... I wouldn't be shocked if that wasn't the case.

Stick a fork in Q100. They're DONE.

Granted, Star makes Nudge do Saturday...I thought it was nice that the full-time talent on Q didn't do it.

Ah well, it was a good station. Hopefully the others can get out on their own accord before the station becomes a shell of its former self.

Yep, Geller is leaving and thus the entire station is going to go down the toilet. There isn't anyone else in all of America that will be able to fill his shoes. He was the one lone person that is single handedly holding Q100 together. That's a lot of weight to carry. God speed young Geller and may you find peace and happiness at your next stop. Do not despair as you look into your rearview mirror and see your former employer going up in flames. It's not your fault. According to the brain trust on this website the station merely couldn't withstand your exit. It was fun while it lasted.

OK - someone is obviously been sniffin a happy juice. Granted Geller is a great jock and will go on to do great things - but the demise of Q100 - ummm no. I think it's a mistake to let him go - but the station will continue to live. Take the Bert Show away - then you have a valid point. Good luck to Geller.
 
I certainly wasn't saying that Geller's leaving would cause the demise of Q100. And I don't think the others were saying that either. They were just saying it's one more (in their opinion negative) thing that's happened since Cumulus took charge. And while I regret Geller's exit, I personally think Q100's best days are ahead. Sure, the whole more music, 10-in-a-row approach is old and tired, but it works. The station is much more focused after the morning show.

Roddy - wasn't talking about you - was refering to that idiotic quote above. Again - nothing against Geller - but "lone person that is single handedly holding Q100 together" - c'mon.
 
None of us are saying that the exit of Geller alone will put the final nail in the coffin. But think about this...

How many Cumulus CHRs do you see succeeding?

If Q100 ends up putting on someone like KJ to replace Geller, then Q100 has succeeded in doing to their night daypart what 99x has done to mornings. Don't get me wrong, KJ is awesome on weekends ... and he's flawless at the execution of the tight format that Q now employes, while managing to add a little personality. But Geller was anything but cookie-cuter, while Q100's sound is cookie-cuter.
 
Yeah, perhaps I should clarify my original post...

Geller is a fantastic air talent. In my opinion, one of the best in the nation. But to say he was carrying the station, and that Q100's done SOLELY because of his exit, is a bit of an exaggeration. Consider everything Bert does in the ratings and for the station - no offense to Geller, but if anyone carries WWWQ, it's him - and really, the only way this mess could be worse if the Bert Show was tossed rather than the Geller Radio Program.

Look, I don't know if this move was Geller's choice. If it wasn't, the move makes no sense, but what do you expect from Cumulus. He certainly deserves far better, and I'm really sorry about it. But maybe he saw the writing on the wall and split. Either way, losing an exceptional night jock, the best on the station in my eyes, is bad news for a station that already seems to be having issues. It alone may not kill Q100, but it most definetely has the potential to speed up the process, should things continue to spiral downwards.

I haven't actually listened since ownership change, but to the person who said the station has sounded tighter in the month and a half since May 5 - what makes you say that? I'm not impressed by the playlists / logs I've seen. Too recurrent-heavy for a CHR. Who's doing the music now that Thomas Crone is gone? Let me guess... ::) And don't get me started on the 10-in-a-row crap they're doing on Cumulus CHR's across the country...KRBE / Houston and WZAT / Savannah, anyone?

As for Geller, keep your head up man. There are some good afternoon gigs open...KHFI / Austin...WKSS / Hartford...KKRZ / Portland...wherever you go next, you're going to do big things.

Always do what you feel

Is best for you...

Its easy to say that, but sometimes hard to actually do.

Especially when you are in a city like Atlanta.

Market #10.

When people in the industry consider it more towards the "top" of the radio world.

People work their entire lives to have a chance to work in a city like this.

They have this vision in their heads about what it is like, and how it makes you feel.

A "major market" equals success.

It means you are good at what you do.

At least that is how I thought. That is what I worked a long time for.

At one point in my career I was pretty much penniless.

I lived in a friends spare walk in closet. I had a sheet over it to give me some privacy.

I owned only my books and clothes.

I moved to Atlanta with only my clothes. I slept on the hard floor for about 2months before I had saved up enough money to buy a bed.

Everything I have in my Apt. now was bought with money.

I'm thankful for everything that has come my way, and ALL the people that have helped get me here...

But...

Now I find myself at a point where I can look back at the past 8 years and REALLY decide what it is I want.

I guess now I'm old enough to really KNOW myself.

I have nothing left to prove to myself when it comes to the radio world.

I accomplished what I set out to do in the fall of 97'.

Now I can look back at EVERYTHING I have seen, and everything that I have gone though. Now I can decide and really FEEL what it is I need.

That is a great feeling. A feeling of liberation.

To really have the ability to do what YOU feel is best, and not what some programmer thinks, or what another air talent thinks.

I ask myself...Am I where I REALLY want to be?

Am I doing what I REALLY want to do?

Answering these questions truthfully and doing something about them is the best way to care for your soul.

And that soul is of course who all of us really are.

Whoever you are, at our centers, we are all good souls.

Pure souls.

At our centers we are JOY. We are Divine. We are all one.

No seperation, just connection.

So, I'm going to do what I NEED to do to make my soul smile.

Never be afriad to make the changes in your life that are required for this to happen. Never deny yourself this happiness.

Changes they are a coming.

All I know is the savannah cumulus station stinks and Q100 is following right in its footsteps... It use to be on my dial but not anymore.. This is coming from an outsider on the issue and I know corporations are more concerned about the bottom line than the listener but something at Q needs to change and change fast. My dial now has on it Star, beat (replacing q100), Kicks, 99x, 96rock, buzz
 
They are utterly clueless. The FCC just popped them $7K for not having anyone in the main studio for a year and change in upstate New York.
 
Say what you want, but Q100 has some of the best NTR events in the market. I'm sure that will keep them around for quite a while.
 
The lead Q100 event each year is Bert's Big Adventure. A look at www.bertsbigadventure.org will show that BBA is owned and run by Bert Weiss and family as a 501C(3) oprganization, and is not affiliated with WWWQ Radio except via Bert. Bert leaves, Bert's Big Adventure goes with him. Bert ain't stupid.
 
... man with Geller gone, Dylan, away and part-times filling in afternoons and nights .... outside of mornings and middays (TSJ) Q100 currently sounds like market #100, not market #10!
