So Long Smooth Jazz 1480

Hello Oldies, now on both 1160 & 1480

Heard that was in the works from a friend that works there. Smooth Jazz is my ABSOLUTE favorite format, but even I didn't listen to 1480. AM is just not made for music past a 1950's format. I have a feeling that someone here in town will pickup that feed on an HD-2 once everyone has their HD up and running.

Radio still on Watercolors, computer still on www.947wave.com

Also... sad to hear about Wayman Tisdale. What a great guy, basketball player, and musician.

Sitting here at 7:26 PM Sunday night listening to the WGUC-HD2 feed. Sounding good. No commercials. We have to donate or it will also go by the wayside.

WCIN's webstream is still running Smooth Jazz.

Am I the only one that this plays in "fast forward" for?

I was listening to this stream when Dangerous Dan and Rodger Kay announced the flip, and the feed was also changed, for at least several minutes.

I seriously doubt "She who must be obeyed" would let me spend $100+ on yet another radio (I have one in every room). So, I've been searching the 'net, and have settled on Jazz24, for the moment. I doubt I'll stick with it, though (Jane Monheit???). I tried WBGO (www.wbgo.org) and liked what I heard - until the fund raising began. I may contribute - but I want to hear what it's like over a couple weeks, at least.

I have an Arkon SF150C transmitter ($15) plugged into the computer's audio out, I get 20' out of it (great for my small house) when it's plugged into the desktop. So any 'net based jazz suggestions will be appreciated...

How funny!
I just went to the WCIN AM website. The add in the top right caught me off guard. It was for a pest service, but the first thing I saw was ALLGONE

I am a huge fan of this format, but unfortunately nationwide this format is dying more and more each day. I read a couple weeks ago that Lite 99.9's HD2 signal was supposed to become Smooth Jazz but I haven't heard anything since.

Since the Jones jazz format went dark last year, everyone was stuck with Broadcast Architecture's feed, unless they did it local. Their feed was so pathetic, I don't miss it. Good riddance BA. My earlier post says it all: Get a HD radio and listen to WGUC HD2.

Just listening to the internet stream from the wcinam.com website. It is stil jazz, but not the crap from BA. It must be the darksoldier's collection.

Hey darksoldier,
Your collection is much better than BA. Can your internet feed be used as a feed for other stations, or would it have to be uplinked on satellite?

Not much interest on anything today.

When is 1160 oldies going away?

I'm not sure 1160 was the signal to give up.

I was in the Cincy area yesterday evening. Drove from the west side along RT50 to downtown and then up I-71 north. They were on day signal but the ingress on the west side was terrible. Basically unlistenable. Closer to downtown, it was ok, but 1160 was louder and cleaner sounding. Was listening to 1480 along I-71 north about midway between downtown and 275 when they did the power change at 8:45. Either they lost carrier all together for quite sometime when they dropped for the power change or it's a very effective directional as I never heard 1480 again from that point. 1160 at that point had some ingress but overall was listenable.

I agree that 1160 has a better daytime signal. 1480s signal is much weaker in Northern KY. I wonder if they can upgrade their daytime power?
