Can anyone explain the strategy of K-News and all of the overlapping signals?
AM is so bad in the Valley, you can make a case for pairing 970 and 1140 together. Then they signed on the 99 watt 94.3 translator which performs very well. I was very impressed with the coverage last time i was through there, even out in Indio.
But they also now are on the 104.7 (AM revitalization move-in), which while has more power than 94.3, is highly directional (especially towards the western side of the valley) and appears to be basically equivalent to the east. Also all the AM signals has been eliminated from the branding. So not even counting the additional signals on the other side of the mountains, that is two AMs and two FMs with the same programming in the same general area.
I haven't heard 104.7 myself, does it do something significant coverage wise that 94.3 doesn't?
I don't get it.
