so many radio personalties come and go/ austin

there has been alot of radio personalties, that have been on the radio in austin that come and go.

first off, i wish fred cantu good luck finding a radio or tv job in austin. you must have over 20-30 or more years of experience in both industries.

k98 jr in the morning comments and suggestion welcome
b 93 mike butts thanks captex
kvet tom allen-classic country show
bo chase z102/oldies 103/ 1077the hawk

i was think who was the dj who was at k98 in the 70's or early 80's, that went cool (kltd) 99.1 oldies lampasas/austin mid 80's.

Nice that listeners miss their favorite personalities, but it has always been so in the biz: if you're good, you'll get a better offer and have to move. If your ratings drop, you'll be out on your butt...and have to move for your next gig.
With consolidation of ownership in just a few hands, it's gotten even worse. With less competition for great talent, the big paychecks are a thing of the past. And with so much automation/syndication, there are fewer places for new talent to develop.

you're nuts if you think "big paychecks are a thing of the past"

the super talented are still making big money. and even in austin.

the cream rises. and succeeds (and gets paid)
and the rest doesn't. and then they cry about it.

K-98 mornings: The Uglies, Dave Shropshire, Karen Claus and whatsisname allen...
but also Kevin Connor, who also did mornings on Z102: as did Dave Marcum, Bo Chase/Bama Brown, John E. Walker w/Wes Nessman, Brent Clanton/Elise/Colum Keating, Max Miller, and for a time some big bearded ogre named John something...
Of course Bama Brown is at KASE with the remaining half of Mason/Dixon, the show that followed the ONLY previous morning man for country KASE: Tom Allen.
All Talented, All deserved much more than they got. Except for a couple who deserve to be forgotten.
Also shouts to Paul Ray and Larry Monroe from KUT, Wayne Bell from KRMH, KLBJ and KOKE, and Rusty Bell, for that matter. How about Ed Mayberry? A prince of a man. Jody Denberg. Brian Beck, Sandy Castle. Debbie Jecker. Olin Murrell. Penny Reeves. Sonny Butler. I could go on and on. I miss them all.

Your mention of Jody reminded me that Denberg's post-KGeezer "year off from radio" began around a year ago, and from a search I get the impression that he is now at KUT doing fill-in shifts and perhaps some work for the Cactus Cafe.

Your analysis, dallasboyz, is "dead-on." Too bad your attitude is so crappy.
