So Many Ties Get Us Closer To Free Pie!

Save your money Luvable One...as KT'R-FM makes it to the Top 10 in Summer P2 12+ and our humble pie day is coming! But look at all these ties:

1) KFWhyEye
2) KOOL
3) KUPD & KYOT
4) KMXP
5) KHOT & KZON & KZZP
6) KEZ
7) KMLE & KT'R-FM  YIKES!
8 KQMR & KSLX
9) KKFR
10) KDKB

Bubbling under the Top 10, some once mighty players: KNIX, Da Peek & Sports Parkinglot 6~Twenty. But it's only Summer, right?

But first, since 12+ is only a red herring appetizer,
we need the main course.

Old Gringo, will you enter and sign in please...
with the 25-54s?

Then let's compare KT'R-FM (only) with 55/FYI,
without Sports Parking Lot 620's numbers being
added to the mix. N/T vs. N/T.

Also, how does KOOL-FM's morning drive stack up in
the money demo?

I'd heard that in spring KOOL mornings was top five in the money demo. It certainly puts them ahead Gardner who didn't make top 10 his last few books.

I am so glad you call it the money demo. Wait until old gringo posts 25-54. I can't wait to hear the moaning.

DR. that slice of humble pie looks closer and closer. Better tuck a napkin under your chin and get your plastic fork handy. By the way ,humbles are looking almost ripe. Oh Yum.

Is that free range humble, or the canned crap? The Nurse and I are very peculiar particular!

You rang?

25-54 trend
KUPD, KHOT, KMXP, KMLE, KSLX, KQMR, KDKB, KESZ, KOOL, KPKX, KYOT, KZZP, KTAR-FM (3.2), KZON, KTAR AM, KNIX, KL NZ, KKFR, KAJM, KFYI (1.9).

Those are the monthly numbers. So, KTAR-FM had one little good month?

No, they are three month rolling averages. The diary based survey does not issue monthlies, although you can extrapolate them.

The PPM, coming in Q1 of 2009, will have weekly numbers, assembled into 13 4-week books with no rolling averages at all.

Based on extraps, KTAR FM has, in the two months of the Summer book, a 4.1 and a 3.8 in 25-54. KFYI has a 2.2 and a 1.5.

David,

Can you delve further into how KFYI and KOOL can show up
#1 and #2 in 12+ but in 25-54 they are down in the middle
(KOOL) and even lower (KFYI)?

From what demo(s) are they getting mega-numbers in order
to rank at the top in 12+?

Do both stations get big numbers in the 45-54 piece of 25-54,
and literally "clean up" with 55+?

Or since this is just a trend, should we forget about these
rankings (in any demo) and wait for the final summer book?

55+

That is a correct assumption. But KOOL has more 45-54 than KFYI, which has an older average age.

Or since this is just a trend, should we forget about these
rankings (in any demo) and wait for the final summer book?

Not really. A trend is as big a sample and the same period of time as a book, just not weighted. At present, what we have is a third of spring an two thirds of summer, and unless something really odd happened in september, the book will be about the same.

Unbelievable! Sandusky's KUPD, KSLX and KDKB opened up a can of whup ass on heavy hitters like KOOL, KEZ and KYOT.... in the $ demo???

In gratitude to all hard working employees, they're bustin' out with unlimited toilet paper in all Sandusky johns, TFN!

Maybe Gumpdusky will also spring for a new lamptimer at the lumberyard,
and a relay to fire a voice track "KAZG Scottsdale" at sign-on and sign-off.

Yeah, when pigs fly (with or without lipstick). ;D

September on 55/FYI...same old, same old:

Lunatic, NBO, El Rushbo, etc. I will say their local news effort has
started to improve. I've even heard local news at 7:00am on a
Sunday, a time when you don't hear a local peep out of KT'R.

September on KOOL...still evolving:

This month you can kiss your Astra, however it apparently involves two
Christmas songs (don't know if that's before or after the Astra-kissing).

Have heard a few '80s songs during regular, local live jock dayparts.
I think KOOL Listener Lauren suggested treading carefully into the
'80s in a recent post, prior to this actually occurring, so she should
get the consulting fee this week, PD Kris. (I'm still waiting to hear
from you about a talent fee for my previous kiss-Astra plug. ;D)

On the down side (there goes my chance for any future compensation),
we now have VT syndication weeknights with Tom Kent, who seems to
be getting a lock on evenings with CBS oldies classic hits stations.
We also have local voicetracking 7-8pm and overnights. Score: ::)
