So, New Greggo Show...Thoughts?

I have been told I am too negative so I thought I would see what the others on this board think first... Your thoughs? 8)

I caught some of it Tuesday night. Greg welcomed a caller from "Dessin." Choppy: "Uh, that's Denton, Greggo." He called the station "ESPN.3" more than once. At least he didn't say "1310 ESPN." Chemistry was terrible. A rundown of Choppy's NFL power rankings was less than compelling.

underwhelming so far....Greggo though is clearly outshining those around him but I'm not to sure what their qualifications are for even being there.

Are they making RJ work all mid-morning and then come back and co-host at night?

I'm very surprised that this does not seem to be as big of a deal to ESPN as maybe it is to some of us.
I don't know whether I and others are guilty of over-hyping his return or ESPN has missed a golden opportunity ........or maybe even a little of both.

I would call RJ a poor man's Cooperstien, but i don't want to run down poor people. He needs to figure out know one gives a rats fart what he thinks.

People are tuning in to here R. Greg, not RJ. Overall? 3.78 out of 10.

Wow, NO interest. That says a LOT. Big old round of indifference.

I tried to listen to some of each night. Last night I tune in and at 7pm it's RJ and some other guy talking high school football. I don't know if greggo was on or not at 8pm because I didn't stick around long enough to find out. Even if greggo is not an expert in local HS sports, wouldn't you just put him on anyway to add some personality to the program? On Tuesday, from 7-8pm it's another paid cowboys program that Greg is not involved. On Thursday it's a TCU show with no involvement from Greggo either. We all know about the Mavericks schedule that will start up in preseason in several weeks. I just don't understand what the strategy is with how they intend on showcasing Greg Williams. Or do they? And again I ask why couldn't this show have been launched in early June if they knew all these pre-emptions were inevitable.

When there are the other obligations the show doesnt go on until 8 and goes until 10. Greggo isnt a part of the High School show, that is why you did not hear him. That goes for the Cowboys and TCU stuff also.

I work at night a lot and have been able to catch most of the shows. They have gotten better as the week went on. Friday was their best show by far.

Friday was the 1st one I heard...and if that was their best....good Lord.

I have only heard about 5 minutes of it... but I think they have a problem. I listened to Greg on the ticket for years. I have never respected his opinion, knowledge or insight into sports. The only time he even talked semi-intelligently about any sport was baseball with Rhynes, and then it felt like he was working off a script or cue cards. I just don't know how he can pull this off. He needs to be the clown on the side to be made fun of, who ocassionally has an opinion, often one that people laugh at.... He can't be a sports authority because he does not display any ability or depth of knowledge to do so. Essentially most every fan who listens is going to feel like they know more about sports then him.

That is why I hate all these national sports networks and these cliche sports shows/stations where they take a ton of phone calls. I don't want to hear what some idiot listener thinks. I know I am more informed then most people out there.. listening to them babble on is boring and wasting my time. I want someone who knows more then me or at the very least presents themselves in a manner that conveys that feeling.

I think if you looked at the main host line-up at the ticket, Greggo had by far the least sports insight and knowledge.

It is good they put him with someone who is a bit of sports dork. I don't know Cappy, Cuppy or whomever it is. Never heard of him except for the 5 minutes I listened. But whoever has that sports authority role needs to be a strong personality and guiding the ship. Greggo is a second fiddle. If he has to dominate the show while the person who actually knows what they are talking about is pushed back, I don't see how that will be worth listening to....

I had high hopes forn this show but i was dead wrong. It's average at best and in a timeslot that doesn't warrant a local show except for maybe during July and August..if they just wanted to focus on Cowboys. I heard an ad today on 103.3 saying every postseason baseball game will be aired on the station. I'm beginning to think that this show was just a tryout just in case the station was given permission to not clear Cowherd at 9am. If Choppy and Greggo ran from 9-11 with a little crossover into Michael Irvin, then it might be listenable.
