...can we put to rest the rumors of WIOD going to FM? (or at least an FM talker.) or are they still out there?
The possibility of a AM-FM simulcast of 610 WIOD is still possible, since 105.9 has the lowest ratings of all the CC FM's and worst of all, it is the lowest rated FM in Miami. What a waste of a 100,000 watt signal.AM_Rocks said:...can we put to rest the rumors of WIOD going to FM? (or at least an FM talker.) or are they still out there?
The Flip of 93.1 from classical WTMI to Party 93.1,happened on new years eve of 01. The flip that happened on new years eve of 99 was the flip of planet 103.5 to Mega 103.5. As I mentioned on a previous post, What would generate publicity would be if CC moved the classic rock format from 105.9 back to 103.5, thus bringing back SHE 103.5. They still own the call letters. It would probaly help them end the string of bad luck they've had with that frequency since Paxson Broadcasting blew it up for planet 103.5. As for 105.9, it can be used as a simulcast for 610 WIOD.Mike said:could 103.5 flip on new years eve agian hmmmmmmmm
miami had 2 flips on new years eve in 1999 on 93.1
and in 2003 on 103.5
No problem. This is fun. I just love the suspense that is happening here on this board, and with Miami radio in general.Mike said:ok i am sorry i got the year wrong i was close though
As long as CC is making big money with WIOD, there will be rumors of WIOD going to FM. 103.5 and 105.9 are at risk of being flipped since both have lousy ratings. Its the trend in radio now with successful news-talk stations having an FM simulcast.AM_Rocks said:...can we put to rest the rumors of WIOD going to FM? On FM's with less than ideal signals, often class A's or rimshot signals which can not stand on their own.ScottBurns said:...AM talkers are being simulcast in cities in which the AM signal does not have great coverage, particularly at night.
ScottBurns said:In several cities, AM talkers are being simulcast in cities in which the AM signal does not have great coverage, particularly at night. This is not the case with WIOD. While I agree that the Beat is the most likely candidate to become WIOD-FM, I still do not see it happening in the near future.
Spanish is a language, not a format.1059LUVR said:...have the spanish formats all to themselves
In 1059LUVR's defence, he did say "Spanish formatS"!DavidEduardo said:Spanish is a language, not a format.

Flip to what?? WIOD-FM??? Booo Booo. Syndicated automated crap on FM. Whooptee Doo. The new 93.9 MIA is a whole lot better than hearing Rush Limbaugh and his bashing. It may not be perfect and to your liking, but there are those of us who grew up listening to what the new 93.9 plays that no one else is playing. We need variety on the airwaves. No WIOD simulcasts or boring elevator music. The new 93.9 MIA has only been on the air for two months. Give it a chance.1059LUVR said:it needs to filp again and make it better and that being said going back the love format would be better than the junk there now and its 949 sister needs to dump the mega format and be better and let univision have the spanish formats all to themselves
