...can we put to rest the rumors of WIOD going to FM? (or at least an FM talker.) or are they still out there?

The possibility of a AM-FM simulcast of 610 WIOD is still possible, since 105.9 has the lowest ratings of all the CC FM's and worst of all, it is the lowest rated FM in Miami. What a waste of a 100,000 watt signal.

Big cannot be changed, not at this point. Paul and Ron are still under contract, and it's obvious CC wants to push their show for syndication on a larger scale. Doc Reno came back and he penned a multi-year contract too. Big is here to stay, sorry.

Now, my question is where is WIOD going to be heard on FM once Love 94 moves into 93.9 HD-2.

I'm one of the few radio geeks with HD and Satellite in my car, and once in a while I want to hear Rush "With Talent on loan from God!!! Limbaugh in HD.

CC most likely will not flip Mega 94.9, since its ratings are pretty strong in the coveted 18-34 demo. What should be flipped is 103.5 The Beat. They will never be able to beat Power 96 or 99 Jamz with the beat. Two strong stations vs. a station which has no focus and is VT'd. A huge mismatch. 103.5 will most likely be the station to be sacrificed next.

could 103.5 flip on new years eve agian hmmmmmmmm

miami had 2 flips on new years eve in 1999 on 93.1
and in 2003 on 103.5

The Flip of 93.1 from classical WTMI to Party 93.1,happened on new years eve of 01. The flip that happened on new years eve of 99 was the flip of planet 103.5 to Mega 103.5. As I mentioned on a previous post, What would generate publicity would be if CC moved the classic rock format from 105.9 back to 103.5, thus bringing back SHE 103.5. They still own the call letters. It would probaly help them end the string of bad luck they've had with that frequency since Paxson Broadcasting blew it up for planet 103.5. As for 105.9, it can be used as a simulcast for 610 WIOD.

No problem. This is fun. I just love the suspense that is happening here on this board, and with Miami radio in general.

Love 94 has returned and they are better than ever.
No chattering DJ's and NO NON-PROGRAM MATERIAL (los commerciales).
93.9-HD2

As long as CC is making big money with WIOD, there will be rumors of WIOD going to FM. 103.5 and 105.9 are at risk of being flipped since both have lousy ratings. Its the trend in radio now with successful news-talk stations having an FM simulcast.

In several cities, AM talkers are being simulcast in cities in which the AM signal does not have great coverage, particularly at night. This is not the case with WIOD. While I agree that the Beat is the most likely candidate to become WIOD-FM, I still do not see it happening in the near future.

On FM's with less than ideal signals, often class A's or rimshot signals which can not stand on their own.
WOKV (Jacksonville) and WBT (Charlotte) come to mind.
Is anyone doing this with a full class B or C transmitting from the middle of the market?

The main reason for an AM to add FM is to improve the 25-54 ratings. KSL, KIRO, WIBC, KTAR, WWL are examples of huge signal AMs that have gone to FM totally or are on temporary simulcasts in order to improve the sales demos.

Washington's WTOP 1500 flipped to FM with an in-town signal on 103.5 FM a couple of years ago now. That was after a successful experiment with WTOP simulcasting in the outer Virginia suburbs on 107.7 in Warrenton, VA. Overall, it helped their numbers a little, but killed of an FM station, and left 1500 without a format and almost entierly without ratings ever since.

it needs to filp again and make it better and that being said going back the love format would be better than the junk there now and its 949 sister needs to dump the mega format and be better and let univision have the spanish formats all to themselves

Flip to what?? WIOD-FM??? Booo Booo. Syndicated automated crap on FM. Whooptee Doo. The new 93.9 MIA is a whole lot better than hearing Rush Limbaugh and his bashing. It may not be perfect and to your liking, but there are those of us who grew up listening to what the new 93.9 plays that no one else is playing. We need variety on the airwaves. No WIOD simulcasts or boring elevator music. The new 93.9 MIA has only been on the air for two months. Give it a chance.
