According to Dan Kane in the Sunday Morning edition of the Repository...

''Radio can be an abrupt and unpredictable business.
Familer friendly voices sometimes vanish from the airwaves abruptly, with no explanation given for their departure
Kathy Vogel and Tim Richards, the morning show duo at Q92, are gone from the station.
Their comfortable, teasing and sometimes rowdy rapport was a fun way to jumpstart weekday mornings.''

So now we know which ''Children of the Corn'' are being replaced.

In what direction should Q92 go now? What exactly did these two do--other than garner ''#1 ratings'' to get bounced this close to the Spring book?

Since I don't get the Repository up here, and didn't pick up a copy while driving around down there earlier this afternoon, I missed the story...honest. But I've found it now:

Pat will have plenty of opportunity to comment later. As for the morning show, Kathy was with the station for nearly four years. From “Z” to “Q” and from Jim to Tim, Kathy was the constant. They decided, together, to leave the station (albeit an hour early from their shift) after contract discussions failed to be resolved. I have always respected the job Kathy (and Tim) did and wish them well as they pursue their professional goals. They are very talented individuals and I’m quite certain they will land on their feet.

The sweepers have been on since about 12N last Friday (1/6). I guess John was off his game.

To clarify one error in your “Blog”, Deluca will not be taking over this week. There are many questions we still need answers to before any official announcement can be made. Stay tuned…. And OA, if and when you would like an "official" comment for OMW, please contact me at the station.

PS: Any predictions? Re: Q92 AM Drive, Evenings or anything else?

So if she's the ''constant'', why not give her what she deserves?

Like, ''is this gonna work''? and ''does Deluca want to get up at 4am''?

Hell, I suggested this very move a couple of years ago..if you're going to trumpet the guy as the ''Next Stern'', then move him to A-M Drive and see what he can do..I doubt seriously you're going to find a team on the beach that will want to see what Alliance has to offer..

Well, I hope Q92 is ready to lose a lot of evening listeners. Deluca was the only evening show I actually took the time to listen to. If I were KDD, I would find something good for evenings. What they had the last time I listened won't cut it either!

Thanks for the note, Mr. Peterson. The on-air liners your weekenders are reading give the impression that the new morning show debuts tomorrow...you might wanna have John reword them.

It'll be an interesting ride with DeLuca in morning drive, at any rate. It'll take an overhaul of what he does at night, as the evening shift doesn't have the morning drive service elements (and less spot load, to boot). And if he's a "night guy" (as far as his metabolism goes), we'll have to see what an early wakeup call does to his constitution.

Donnie...a Hero or a fool?

First, I admire your candor when discussing the adjustments at your radio station.

Secondly, I am shocked at your candor when discussing the adjustments at your radio station.

In today’s litigious society I can’t figure out for the life of me why on earth you would find it necessary to point out that there were contract talks that broke down, and a team walked out in detail on a message board! They could very easily find an attorney who would argue that it was a possible attempt to ruin their good names and therefore taint future employment opportunities. It's a good argument as we know several local PD’s do in fact read this board. Even if you don’t think there is merit to this, a lawyer could make life expensive for you even if it never got to the inside of a court room.

This all leads to another series of questions:

1)What talent their right mind would want to work under a contract in a market the size of Canton ?
2) Just how much of an increase would someone demand, not receive then walk out because they didn’t get it?
3)How unhappy would you have to be to walk just because an increase in salary does not happen?
4)Did they really walk out? or is this a cost cutting move? Let’s be honest. Two people making $30,000 each is more expensive then one talent making $28,000.

Re: Donnie...a Hero or a fool?

just some thoughts...

1. you would be surprised at how many people are under contract
in smaller markets.
you may also be surprised at how this over inflates ones sense of value.

2. the people who own Q 92 have had numerous opportunies to sell and won't so they gotta do what they gotta do.

3. you're right.......i wouldn't discuss employee matters in ANY public forum.
NOBODY SHOULD.

Yeah, that's all fine and great. 92 sucked yesterday, it sucks today, it'll suck tomorrow and we ALL KNOW IT....the real story here.
CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE OPENS ON TUESDAY!
Kathy and Tim, first burger is on me!

I'll Take "Fool" for a Billion-Trillion Dollars

You hit the nail on the head.

Donnie, you continue to show how clueless you are. While there are people on this board who love to want to know crap that is none of their business, you seem to fuel that by making your personnel changes/happenings/etc public knowledge on this forum.

If Donnie even had a lawyer, I am sure s/he would be beating his head against the wall asking each time it hit "WTF were you thinking?!" It seems that between the GM and PD, they seem to open themselves up to civil suits (remember, giving bad references is ILLEGAL!!!).

But then again, anyone in management in their right mind who reads this board knows exactly the kooks that are in management in Alliance. They gladly show it on here. But that is still no excuse.

Just one job denial and Donnie could have his ass dragged into court just by what he wrote here.

Re: Tim and Kathy Out at Q92, DeLuca In

Deluca will do just fine in morning drive. He has great things in his future, much greater than the dump in Alliance can offer him. He has more talent than most of the whiners on this board. After six months of mornings, Deluca should run to a better station in a better market.

What kind of a moron posts personal information about his employees on a message board? That is just stupid and insulting. The man has no class whatsoever.

The man calls himself DPIII? DPIII sounds like a title of a porno movie.

If I were Deluca I would wonder what dirt DPIII will trot out in public when I finally take a walk. If I were Kathy I would be seeking legal advice immediately.

Imagine the stories the people in that office could tell about Donnie! I suggest they register immediately and give the dude a taste of his own medicine. I am sure it would make for great reading.

Donnie should sell his own brand of sour grape wine (or is that whine)

Donnie Peterson is one of the worst, uneducated idiots in the business. His 'dump' as some have called it is just that a 'dump'. One good book in 5 years. Kathy is a professional and will move to better 'air'. Peterson has lost many, many great personalities when he forced his way in as the GM. There is a long list of them, many who put a lot of effort into making radio enjoyable for the listener. If you really look back, the biggest mistake, besides having DPIII run the dump, was the move from Oldies.
At that point, a family friendly radio station, went to hell.
PS: Donnie, don't respond, I have nothing to say to you....only the intelligent people of this board.
