So rover says MWL is 14th in ratings?

He didnt specify and demos, but is this true? I thought he was starting to slowly pick back up. He laso he had info that would get him fired, is this just radio theater and rover being a prick like usual or what?

Anyone know NCX's morning recent morning ratings?

Don't know, don't care. But the talkers in town do like to create controversy at every bend. Rover's not my cup of tea. I complained about his language on another discussion board and someone who wanted to give the impression they were part of the show decided to slam me on every occasion.

As far as Maxwell is concerned, he's not aiming for my demographic and I do not listen. I figure if he's got a good product, he will start getting the listeners......

Oh, and Happy Easter!

I heard the show Friday and Rover sounds serious. I never liked Maxwell's show before and he doesn't come across as a nice guy. Whatever was supplied to Rover from the listener will make for interesting radio. Max & Rover have a history of not liking each other so this could be the final straw in their feud.

Was this after Rover's elongated absence from the air over a few weeks - compounded by a cryptic "Who changed the locks?" tweet that sent oh so many hearts a flutter a few days ago? I guess he was starving for more attention from Action 19 and/or the PD...

Rover's show is a five-hour-long kayfabe. It would be something different if the characters he and his supporting cast play were at least a little bit believable, but they aren't and never will. It's nowhere close to Cleveland talk kingpin "Gary Dee," the character Gary D. Gilbert played on WERE, WHK and 3WE decades ago, and that's a damn shame. Rover has always had much potential, but just can't fulfill it - whether or not it's a lack of drive, his abysmal sidekicks, or the curse of being a Stern successor (where he lost all but one affiliate over the course of three years), I don't know.

I also would have no idea exactly how authentic Maxwell's troupe is OTA, but I never have seen them as deliberately phony - you can't act out drug rehab et al. But one would have thought that the 'final straw' in their feud would have came in 2008 after Rover took a caller that claimed to be Max's drug dealer - and Rover took it seriously, even asking probing questions into Max's behavior and whatnot, with the complimentary giggles from the sidekick gallery. That took place in the 10am hour during the summertime - and Max was forced to address it on his show later that afternoon. (Don't think that incident didn't make up Max's mind right then and there to leave at the end of his contract... I would've felt the same way IMO.)

The only thing I can guarantee that ISN'T phony is their total hatred of each other.

I like that. I wasn't aware you knew pro rasslin' terminology ;D

For what it's worth if you look at the 6+ numbers on radio-info WNCX is soundly besting WMMS, usually it's hard to do that is the morning show isint working.

14th in WHAT? Total audience?

You can be down in the 6+ and be good in a demo or demos.

Demos are the name of the game in radio sales.

What are the demos?

Rover didn't specify, he just said the fatass across the street in 14th place, so who knows. I thought Max was getting more QH lately. He's slowly changing the show back. I really really hope CBS keeps him and just moves him to another station in November, 98.5 just isn't the right fit for his show. He doesn't have the following Stern did to carry a hot talk show on a station for old farts.

I say amp up 92.3's signal, or put a new antennae up high or something and have Max do mornings there... 98.5 overall would probably go up in ratings, and honestly I would have to guess the same for 92.3. in the long run at lest, in the beginning i cant see it hurting.

Who knows. maybe they'll end up in DC, Chicago, Baltimore or probably best fit Seattle on 107.7 on afternoons. I'll listen wherever they go. Too bad I won't get to go to their events if they leave though.

Also, loved the kayfaybe comment!

I called into MWL this morning a couple times, got through once. the first time the pone screener said Max didn't wanna take any calls about that subject, so who knows if it's serious or if he's just not giving Rover the satisfaction of acknowledging it. Dan addressed it on facebook, saying if there was a problem he sure as hell didn't know about it, in so many words

I don't understand the who changed the locks comment? was he just being stupid because he's saying he was locked out because he was gone so long?

That would be my guess, too. Nevertheless people took that tweet as serious as a heart attack.

If only it were as easy as "amping up" 92.3's signal. 92.3 is hemmed in on the map by Alliance, OH (92.5) and Bellevue, OH (92.1), so they have to remain where they are in Warrensville Heights on the side of the 95.5 Fish tower on 1-271. Although it is not as good as the high towers in Parma-Seven Hills-North Royalton, 92.3 gets out pretty good over the Cleveland metro.

Yes, Maxwell would probably be a better fit on 92.3. I think they put him on 98.5 because Stern worked over there and Maxwell--like Rover--is basically another Stern ripoff act. By the way, 98.5 does very well in men 25-34, so your comment about "old farts" is not all that accurate.

Rover says a lot of stuff that isn't true, knowing that there is no way for the public to prove him wrong. Anyways, I don't think Rover has anything on Maxwell. C'mon, Maxwell has admitted to EVERYTHING. I don't think there is anything that can get him fired, in fact, I'm not sure there could possibly be anything worse than the stuff he's already admitted to on air.
How about someone getting to the bottom of the Rover being gay rumor.
