So the BMI licensing guy e-mailed me again....

Attached below is the exchange of e-mails that took place between myself and "Jeff" from BMI... at this point I'm not going to bother replying to anything else he might e-mail me. It's just not worth the hassle conversing with someone who thinks Parr 15 stations have a "DESIRE" to pay hundreds of dollars in BMI licensing fees.

Hi Kevin –

Just following up to see if you had any questions and had a chance to look over the license. Please call so we can look over the license together and make sure you are covered for the public performances that are affiliated with BMI.

Many thanks,

Jeff

This station is not even on the air anymore so please stop bugging me with your licensing crap. I hope you have fun spamming everyone else on the Part 15 station list. Most of it is very out of date so what you're doing is really just a waste of time.

Thanks for the update, Kevin. So far, we are doing quite well responding to the Part 15 community's desire to be legally covered for public performance of BMI affiliated works. I'm sorry to hear that your station was apparently not successful.

Warmest Regards,
Jeff

I'd love it if you would post his postal mail address.

We could play the "I am Spartacus!" game and get him to pay a fortune in postage mailing out license agreements to non-existent Part 15 stations. :) -- JasonW

Seeing that it would cost all of $3,000 with bulk rate to mail to every licensed station in the U.S., I don't think it would put too big of a dent in their fun. Nice try, though. :)

I wouldn't reply to this guy, if I were you. Let him take his steps if he means it, and let him find out with all the other agents if this is costly or worthy to them to bluff or intimidate stations like yours.
When they find out along with most of the others that were chasing or hunting hot air, it gets debatable on an issue for an example of what is obscene and what isn't. I bet you alot cases get thrown out. There just scaring you.

More importantly, the station which the BMI guy contacted me about has not been on the air in several years! They're going through an old, outdated list of Part 15 stations to get their spam list. So, I'm sure I'm not the only one who got hit with an e-mail from Jeff at BMI about a Part 15 station which no longer exists.
