than the Rooster? (This ? from a radio outsider.) I listen to 97.1 more than any other music station, and when you add in Jack, it's over 90%. The Rooster I could not listen to. (One thing I was still mad about losing the Planet. Was the Rooster 10 or 15 format changes after that?)

Usually when a station changes format, I'll listen a lot for a day or 2, then it fades fast.

Did Cumulus change or did I?

I may be wrong and probably am, but I believe Rooster played more of "Todays Rock" music. I believe 106.3 formats over time were The Planet, Kiss 106.3, Rooster, Blazin 106 and the current format of Sports. I may have left out 1 or 2, they changed so much.

I liked the Planet myself. I stayed with them for "Kiss," or whatever their R&B oldies format was called, but when they went to Rooster, I quit listening to them and haven't been back since. I was annoyed that they played a listener comment saying "don't ever change,"* yet did exactly that just three days later!         They had to have known at the time they aired that comment that they were already planning to change!

*I put an asterisk by this comment to show that even regular old radio listeners (in addition to radiophiles like us! ;D ) now live in constant fear that their favorite radio station will "change" on them in a moment's notice! It wasn't like that (for the most part) when I was growing up.

I even bought a Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes compilation CD to get the song "Bad Luck" which had been an airplay staple on "Kiss" and about the same time on Jammin'/Groovin' Hits 104.5. After they both changed, I never heard it on the air anymore, except occasionally when Tom Kent would play it.

I heard last night the voiceover guy say, "WRQQ Belle Meade - Nashville" ...(used to be Goodlettsville -Nashville). Then went to radio-locator.com and to see if the coverage area changed (if you click the i for information and go to the coverage area section you can see the areas where the station transmits.) Does anyone know anything about this?

The Planet was not around long, as was the case for most of the formats at 106.7, but I think they were around in the summer of 98 and into 1999 before the plug was pulled on that one.

If I remember correctly, were they not similar to "The Jack". but with on air talent?

No they were a more milder user friendly, chic happy version of Thunder 94 in my opinion with a heavy emphasis on the 80's alternative. The females loved it.
