This "pirate" had been on the air for well over a year, but was not a true pirate in the sense that it did not generate any original programming, but was rather relaying the web streams of stations from around the country, on a very consistent schedule. WSB in the late AM, KSFO on weekend late nights. It was interesting that some of the programs were airing live, and some were playing many hours after they were originally on the air. The station was often not on the air mid-day.
There was a female voice (with an Indian accent?) that gave the top of the hour time, but other than that, it was a straight relay of web streams, including the web stream ads that are often different than the on-air ads (noticeably the case with WSB).
When I first found the pirate it was on FM (about two years ago) for many months (often relaying weekend Fox News Channel programming), then eventually moved to 1500 AM.
I live very close by and using some simple tools, I determined that the transmission appeared to come from Carfax Avenue (or one street over), just south of the 405 freeway (right before it crosses over Palo Verde).
