So what should be done at Radio Now?

With low ratings like that, it's got me wondering. Is it the personalities? Or is it the music? Most CHRs are playing a bit of Hip Hop and R&B, some even leaning Rhythmic in towns similar to Indy's size, yet Radio Now remains pretty darned balance. I just wonder, does Emmis still have a non compete with Radio One over the WTLC spinoff? Mabye that non compete would even apply to adjustments at WNOU that would tilt it in WHHH's direction. Mabye the reason why we haven't seen major changes at WNOU yet. But I'm betting the farm we will soon.

And no, I don't believe they'll change format. Just needs some mechanical work.<P ID="signature">______________

It's not the music as much as the talent. Sounds like a high school station and a not very good one at that. The "Morning Mess" humour is the geared to fourth graders.

When WNOU went on they were the teen pop station. That music has faded and hip-hop has become bigger. WHHH has that position all to themselves now that WTLC is urban AC. WNOU is in the same position a lot of mainstream CHRs are now days. There's not enough strong mainstream music.

I doubt that you will see Emmis swapping to an urban format anytime soon. The only reason that they owned WTLC in the first place was to swipe the frequency and dump the format. They never wanted to be in the urban music business in Indianapolis. The 105.7 frequency was their only concern. They have played the same game in markets all over the country. They have proven time and again that they are not capable of managing a format geared to the African American community. Just look at the never ending mess at Hot 97 in New York.

Exactly. I don't know how Wank and O'Brien are doing at Hank, but they belong on WNOU. And they need some new, good talent to fill the other times. The music isn't the problem there.

Emmis does very well with urban leaning stations. If you don't want boring radio you are going to have a few messes to deal with.
