Anyone have any news on what's happenin there? Anyone know anything about their upcoming promotions? How is the new lineup? Just looking for some info, any help would be nice...

They should be primed to kill it's competition with Howard gone, but infact I think they took a step back.

Hillman should make gains (though his show is stale), and I like Hsu. But Carrie is just horrible and I can't see how she will be able to make it in the afternoon drive.

AAF used to have the best lineup of jocks - now - unless they bring in someone new for nights and afternoon drive - I just don't see them doing much better in the books than they have been.

Fact is - HJY and Rock101 are better stations right now, and AAF hasn't improved enough to fully kill off 'BCN.

Just my thoughts.

To steal/modify a quote from the great David Lee Roth (coming to mornings on WBCN starting 1/3/6):

"People ask me, "so what about WAAF today?" I tell 'em "hey I'm not in it, I don't give a sh*t." They say "so what about Mistress Carrie" I say, "same answer."

Yep...i'm bored.

But I love Carrie...seriously. I just had to replace "Valerie Bertinelli" in the quote, and they only have one female I could use.

Either way...hope they're enjoying life without me.

> What about their recent signal issues?

They're back transmitting from their original site in Paxton, so the signal should be as good now as it was before they tried the Boylston tower fiasco.

I haven't seen anything yet about any further upgrade attempt plans.

My Guess...

The upgrade plans are tabled until further site studies are done...

Ya want a job selling used cars?

> Yep...i'm bored.

Hhhheeeyyyyy! Ya want a job selling used cars?

Where's Rockhole at now?

Leave well enough alone (was My Guess....)

They should leave well enough alone. WAAF's Paxton site is a premium site. It's worked for FM transmission quite well now for over 70 years. We saw how LOUSY the Boyleston site was for FM transmission. Why in God's name would they want to dump the Ashnebumskit site (with SIX STATE COVERAGE!!!) for a less than acceptable signal from the Channel 27 site? It beats me. Somebody didn't do their homework. There is nothing wrong 'AAF's signal from Paxton. Leave it alone and take it from there. End of story.

Their signal issues pale in comparison to their lack-of-talent issues

WAAF obviously wants to be known as, and bill as, a Boston station. Apparently, that's where they seem to believe the lucrative major market advertising revenue is, not in the (relatively) small markets of the rest of New England that they cover.

Their signal from Paxton in Boston proper and the immediate metro is not very good. It fades in and out in a car, is not strong enough to provide full stereo separation in most of the area, and has a difficult time overcoming the blanket of urban intermod interference from all the powerful stations on the Pru. It's not competitive with their Boston format rival WBCN within Route 128.

However, the signal from Boylston, though about eight or ten miles closer, was even worse in Boston (and everywhere else)!

I'm guessing that in their quest to improve their signal in Boston, even if only slightly, they were sold a faulty bill of goods. I'm sure that, on paper, it could've been made to appear that Boylston would improve their signal strength in Boston and still cover fairly well elsewhere, but it didn't do either, not by a long shot.

I'm going to speculate that at some point they will probably make some other attempt at inching their transmitter closer to Boston, if not with an improved antenna from Boylston again, they'll probably try somewhere else.

The solution: Entercom should have out bid Greater Media and purchased WCRB. They'd have no problem covering Boston.

don't know him personally...i was just mentioning that he hasn't worked in boston sice 2001 or so and he is still brought up in convo. although i know you and him had some distaste for each other, more him bashing you than you bashing him though....just saying is all!

A couple of notes

If Entercom really was hoping for a better Boston Metro signal, then maybe they should have placed WAAF on 93.7 and "MIKE" on 107.3 ?

Also another sign that WAAF is not going back to Boylston anytime soon. WERZ in Exeter had applied to move it's antenna system further north and away. (And IIRC, they were going to build it upon WAAF's move). They filed to cancel that CP as well.

As stated in a former post, I agree that Entercom buying 102.5 would have been a good buy...

Here's the truth:

Bashing I could'nt care less about I said some pretty rugh things too...., yes he did bash me everyday, that was a main component of his show because he had no material, none. Bashing I dont have any issue with look at O and A, they were ruthless and I can say that Opie and I are friends today and despite what certain over zealous posters who are completeely on the outside with no info other than that which they fantasize as being true try to claim, that the company somehow made us make up, which is completely false/ The point being they were really rough and I know it's their sctick, so opie and I buried the feud years ago. Rocko on the other hand does not have any integrity, LIED ABOUT HIS RATINGS AND MINE ALL THE TIME, like so many during that era of waaf were such big talkers on air but would see me at shows and would either run scared or would avoid my side of the venue altogether, Rocko, Ozone, all cowards. Or te opposite sometimes would want to get a beer and then while I was on hold would be talking about my show "the Jiggaboo jukebox".

Just trash end of story. The saddest thing was that he/they would bash me and then if I or anyone called them on what they had siad they would deny or pretend that something else was meant and it was never me, I never even made an issue of some of the dumbest things siad about me but both the Globe and the Herad would and they didnt have the sack to stand behind ANYTHING they said, at least o and A took the heat along with the glory, which is why it was possible for us to reconcile, we admitted that we were indeed fans of each other's work although we were doing two very different shows, they stood up and said "we said a lot of stuff that was wrong and that's not us and we're sorry" That is what Opie and Anthony and I said to each other years ago, rocko would never have it in him to be that forthright. Look at it this way: the guy was out of work forevver after he was fired from aaf, he then finally gets a chance in OHIO, fired after three months, gets another c hance in Portland Oregon, fired after three months. Neither one knew of his bad rep around here, if they did they ignored it ebcause they were on opposite sides of the country. Two different companies, two different markets, same end result.

I rest my case.

Truth be told nik, i never really listened to your show back in the day...which i regret because from what i hear you're a pretty cool cat and you're show was worth the listen, and it's cool that you have the balls to come on here and tell your side of the story. hehe oh the old o & a feuds....

Let's not forget how he treated Birdsey, or the horribly fake stuff with Matty Blake. Where are they now?

Birdsey was auditioning for WJFK in DC with Hutch from zlx a few months ago. However DLR took Hutch to NYC with him as his board op, Birdsey on the other hand I think is back on the discard pile. Dont feel bad for Birdsey, he and ZRocko deserved each other however Matty Blake I thought was a guy just looking or a break and was basically a good dude.
