One thing DCRTV says about this WINC/Centernnial situation is to expect more voice tracking on WINC-FM.
Ah, there is a 99% chance that will NOT happen. True WINC-FM can voice track if they wish however the reason they won't is because WINC-FM is offered on Comcast channel 6 throughout the Winchester-Berryville area. WINC first appeared on that channel way, way back in 1982 and as I can recall the deal between WINC-FM and then Winchester TV Cable back then was that in order for Winchester's 92.5 FM to be on cable channel 6 then WINC-FM is to remain "Live" around the clock and/or at least have someone in the studio at all times since WINC-FM would be in charge at all times of the content of cable channel 6 such as updating news and weather. The agreement also applies to any one who would purchase Winchester TV Cable in the future. In other words, no matter who owns the local cable there ( today its Comcast ) if WINC-FM wants to remain on local cable 6, then they must be live. This is the big reason why the other stations in the WINC cluster ( WINC-AM and WWRE/WWRT "Real Classic Rock" ) isn't on that TV channel as both stations are automated in at least some dayparts. Back in 1993, WINC tried to put WINC-AM on channel 6 on a part time basis but because of the syndication on am 1400 such as Rush Limbaugh, Adelphia Cable said no.
Besides WINC-FM makes quite a bit of money off that channel between their ads and morning guy Barry Lee's TV talk show. I have serious doubts WINC-FM will want to lose all of that money all in favor of voice tracking a few shifts.
But then again the new owners could say "to hell with channel 6" and start voice tracking WINC-FM anyway. If that happens expect to hear some sort of Music Choice programming on tv 6, if that happens at all. WINC-FM "giving" Comcast channel 6 to another local station ( Q102, WFQX, WKSI, or WTRM ) is not an option since, well again it goes back to the "live 24/7" which of course those stations are not.
