So When does 970 get Hannity?

Update on Hannity...

He's coming to 970. They just don't know when. That's what Jeff Fisher said on the Fisher Files last night.
Fisher is filling in for a couple of nights, then 970 picks up Mark Levin from ABC until... they lob tear gas into Genesis 10:40's hovel? :D

You'd think they could have seen that even a cur dog operation like 10:40 wasn't just going to roll over and give Hannity over on a platter, on a schedule to 970's liking.

Perhaps the braintrust should have remembered a few years back when they grabbed Art Bell from another station. The other station just pulled him off suddenly one night, forcing 970 to scramble to get him on their air -- and even then it took a week. Or even further back to the late 80s, when 970 snatched Tom Snyder (hard to believe that was ever thought of as a coup) from a rival station to replace Bruce Williams who moved over to 620. Weeks of tapdancing and some unintentionally interesting fill as the station did live local talk in overnights for 19 consecutive days.
 
I vote to keep the Fisher Files instead of Hannity. Jeff is live & local, and is fun. If I want to hear more Bush butt kissing, I'll just tune into a Rush rerun.
 
Just like Howard Stern has lost 90% of his audience, Hannity will lose that much when he is no longer cleared live in this market. Actually losing him might be a blessing for Genesis. He does little any more than bitch and whine about Republicans and he really has gotten bad at badgering anyone who disagrees with him. It is really obnoxious. I'm sure it's schtick but it really wears thin. Rush was never this agressive. Course now that he has a good supply of Viagra, he may stiffen up a little. This will give 10:40 a chance to have a nice clean slate for PM drive. A good local host would sure be nice. I'm tired of Schnitt. What would hurt 1040 most is if they were to lose O'Reilly. 930 in Sarasota has really tanked since Salem took over, and there isnt a lot of difference exept O'Reilly is gone.

Hannity does fine on WIOD in Miami and he's on tape delay. Actually, WIOD moved him up to 6 PM.
 
my wife and i were returning from vac the other night and heard "the fisher(sp?) files" we really liked it. what are the chances of him being regular? i know he has a show on the week ends but i never heard it. then to or horror they went to the best of snitt. we didnt even know there was such a thing
 
I don't understand why 970 didn't have everything ready to go with Hannity before Phil Hendrie signed off. Couldn't they have made the switch right away instead of having to wait days or weeks?

10:40 will not put a local host in that time slot. One of the most frustrating things to watch, from the point of view of someone who believes in good competition, is 10:40's refusal to leverage the advantages it had with Hannity for four years, and the other Fox-friendly talk hosts by putting in another locally based host, maybe someone who's a little hungrier than the multitasking Mr. Larsen. But Genesis refuses to be any more than the second-tier talker and a fourth-tier player in the market.
 
970 just replaced Phil Hendrie with Mark Levin from 6-8 PM, and a Schnitt replay from 8-10 PM. They're not going to put Hannity on THAT late are they?
 
You can complain about 1040 not being competitive, but 970 isnt what it was back in the day either. Think of when 970 really ruled the Tampa airwaves with the local morning wheel, Larsen midday, Rush, and Lassiter. They dont have near the quality of programming they used to have. They still have local news, but they are cutting that back too....
 
1040 can compete if they do put a local show in the 3:00- 6:00 slot. IMHO it would be a little more refreshing. Besides people like to go with local as well as national news right?
They just need to put the right person on the air, not some hack.
 
The problem is that 1040 just doesnt have the signal that 970 has. However, the hiss and lower fidelity 970 now has because of IBOC digital has hurt them. 1040's nite signal really sucks. Almost as bad as when they only had PSRA and PSSA of 10 watts, back when they were a daytimer.
