So which will go...KTBZ or KHMX?

Way to leave two stations twisting in the wind. This may come down to overall cluster demographics. If CC keeps The Buzz, the cluster is going to lean heavily male (with KODA the only real female skewing station.) Keeping Mix 96.5 will keep the gender reach more in balance. My guess is that KTBZ goes.

Of course, there may be significant changes to KKRW and whichever station is kept. I don't see CC messing with KODA.

Wonder why KKRW wasn't one of the spinoff stations? The signal is somewhat inferior to the others.

And what, if anything, does this mean for the CC AM's?

Things might be as interesting as they were in 2000 with all the consolidation/spinoffs in the market.

Keep in mind that PPM may factor into Clear Channel's decision, too. As for why KKRW wasn't one of the spinoff stations, it's because the DOJ said so. The DOJ looks at revenue and decides what has to go. For whatever reason, KKRW didn't fit their formula.

CC would have loved and probably tried to unload the underperforming, dreadful AM's. But they didn't get a choice as to what goes. They would have rather kept the 5 FM's and unload the AM's. Its ironic. They have to spin-off the stations that are performing instead of having to sell off the crappy AM stations.

If MIX is sold, will the new buyer keep the format the same? It sounds like they bill fairly well, and have done well in the PPM ratings. Same for the Buzz.

I'm still proudly employed by CC and quite frankly I hope I'm one of the lucky ones that remains employed by CC.

Think about it this way: If these 8 stations didn't dominate so much, the DOJ wouldn't be breaking it up. That's the thanks we get for kicking a**.

I know many of you think all 8 of our stations suck and are mismanaged. But the fact remains, it's one of the most dominating clusters in the radio business. And contrary to what many of you believe, it continues to out sell and out program the competition year after year. This is no shot at the competion. Houston has some of the most respected broadcasting companies in America.

With 6 stations all of our jobs just got tougher. I'm sure a few of you hope that this means the end of my CC career, I sure hope not. If it is I can assure you my feelings won't change. My experience here has been nothing but positive. I also will never understand why anyone would wish bad will on another.

Easy Money!!! You know what this is right??? Its called jelousy that you work for a great company!!

No ill will for anyone.
However, no one is jealous of a futureless job managed by imaginary greatness..

Anger, frustration, disdain and torment...........very healthy

Easymoney, I honestly hope you get to keep your job. And the desk and chair you use for it. However, you might want to research a little bit about why the DoJ is breaking up the cluster. It's not because you're successful, it's because your company has too many in this market to sell to its potential buyer without creating too many for them. Nothing to do with kicking ass, buddy. Sorry to burst your delusion.

What do you call pulling 40 shares? If the facts make me delusional, so be it.

You can still own up to 8 stations in Houston (5 fm's and 3 am's) that has not changed. The reason CC has to divest 2 stations is because the DOJ feels like CC's 40 share combined w/ Cumulus and Univision shares (which Bains and Lee also have ownership) will cause the new company to drive advertsing rates up.

If the CC cluster of 8 were only pulling a 20 share, trust me this would not be an issue.

I realize facts frustrate you. You prefer emotional rants. If pulling 40 shares is not a "success" what do you call it? Luck ?

A little less emotion and little more information may be enlightening

Ya ever notice how, anytime someone wishes EasyMoney the best in keeping his job, he gets all hostile and ballistic? Veddy interesting.

Easy Money will be among the first to go and will be the most caught off guard when changes affecting his end of CC come down. It always happens that way. EM-be careful with your loyalty with companies like yours. They don't give a rats ass about it, in fact probably look at you as somewhat of a freak. You're always the first to go.

Anyone else notice that Easy Money seems to come across as a "politician"? Hmmmm.... ;)

Oh, well, no matter. Back to the topic: Which signal gets sold in addition to Mega, will it be The Buzz or Mix? Easy Money, since you're inside the building, would you care to share your thoughts on the original question?

Hey easy money

Standard oil pulled big numbers back in the day also. So did at&t, microsoft also pulls big numbers but look at what the EU is doing to them? Are you getting the point? The facts? THE DOJ IS BUSTING UP A MONOPLY JUST LIKE IT DID WITH BIG OIL AND THE PHONE COMPANIES!! GET A CLUE DUDE.

I've never felt so dumb and naive in my entire life. You guys are so enlightening. I've never heard such uplifting, positive insight in my entire life. I think I may just go ahead and resign from my current position. I love my job and really respect the company, but if you disgruntled geniuses feel like the end is near, I may just walk in and end it on my terms.

Know of any companies looking to hire a loyal guy who loves radio? Let me guess: you're in between jobs because you got jacked around by Clear Channel.

Clear Channel hmm voice tracking, tons of commercials. The only plus is that they are on FULL City Grade Transmitters and their audio quality is Outstanding.
