So who is left...

It's been a few years since I've posted. Getting banned for having fun and stirring up ish proved to be too much for the overloards of forums. Was browsing old posts and getting a good chuckle. So is there anyone left from the old days to talk music/programming?

I've been hesitant to bring anything up, but I guess I'll throw my two cents in. I've noticed within like the last year...maybe, or so, that this dance forum had slowed quite a bit. I've been a long time lurker but just started posting things here on this forum site not too long ago. I've noticed that many of the long time posters here appeared to have left or abandoned this forum, but for reasons not completely clear. Either the dance music that's pumping out there is either (finally) satisfactory to much of the posters here, or other forces not well known to me (at least), is keeping them away for one reason or another. A couple of threads I've started came with some responses, which were great and had no problems with, but it seems no one is conversating (posting) as much at the moment. The abrupt shutdown of this site late last year didn't help things. Some may not know the site has returned yet or are keeping away because he/she are still upset by the upset and are posting at competing forums. Theedger, what kinds of ruckus did you bring here that was cause for such a ban from the administrators?

BTW, I miss CHRles and his dance webcasters lists that were made every once in a while. I used them as a reference like many others did, I'm sure, but I haven't seen a post from him in some time. I wonder if a should make a separate thread, like "ATTN: CHRles, a new dance webcasters list, please?" or something...

That reminds me, other than this one, what other forums other than this one are other posters flocking to about dance music among other subgenres? (If that is within the terms and conditions of this forum to post such things)

To be honest, I don't remember exactly. I know Manny and I were going back and forth, but we were also chatting in private about what we were going to spat about on the forum. Admin didn't like the attacks and they deleted my posts.

I am pleased to see dance getting more exposure on CHR. Not enough to get me to listen to CHR though. I can take pop and dance, but not the harder rap and dance. Oil and water for me.

Hmm, well there's been a change of hands since then, I think. If anything at the moment, administrators are trying to encourage communication since the disruption and plenty of posters I'm guessing are still pissed off or left. Perhaps the older posters moved on or 'outgrew' the music, especially the current releases. I concur that I'm pleased to hear dance (in general) is finally receiving the exposure many here have been clamoring for for some time. But when and where this material is heard is still something to be desired. Pop and dance = great. Hip hop and hard dance = not so much. The 'pureists' of both genres would be too pure for their own good to be able to get along without whining about either/or being on the same station or mixshow, etc.

The "EDM" sound has played its run. All the songs sound the same now. Festival kids are driving the sound and I don't think they're radio listeners. The big producers are finding their way to mainstream CHR.

I had begun another topic previously that asked the question about others attitudes regarding the direction dance music is headed in the latter part of this decade and maybe the beginning of the next and with the responses that I received, myself and others, seem to have similar sentiment with the current EDM/electronica craze is running its course (or preferably needs to) and that 'we need to return to the basics'. Typical when a new fad has reached it's peak, it quickly becomes homogenous and (hopefully) fades out. The latest crop of new kids (I'm afraid) don't know much about this 'radio' of which you speak of. These days, thingy's like 'Pandora' and 'iTunes' is what music comes from...*sarcastic pause*...nothing much else. Place a cassette tape player in front of them, for example, and they'll libel to look up at you like you've placed a piece of excrement on a plate in front of them and ask "What the hell is this?!?" and "W...Wh...Where's the screen?!?" and "How am I supposed to use this thing if it doesn't have a screen?!?"

Yes, this is the main reason. Plus, the forum has not been the same since. I had tried to post after finding out it was back a couple months ago, and it keep giving me error messages. So this will actually be my 1st post of the season if all goes well. As far as the direction and interest in Dance.....well there is a loaded question. It seems what we all hoped for has bit us in the ass*. Now we have all these novelty songs that are poorly produced and making the genre a joke. Its just a matter of time before everybody bans the sound like they did in 1980.

Lol....let's just say I am happy to have Party732.com featured at a few of these local places regularly. However, based on what I see in Jersey, the scene is already filled with these bars and restaurants all of a sudden turning into dancefloors and lounges after 9PM, the insane amount of "DJ's" that spin the most horrible bootlegs and mashups and only depend on Crooklyn Clan to "spill their craft" instead of researching new and exciting music no other DJ would dare to play, and these owners expect the DJ's to play open format all night. Sadly, I had no choice but to air live the horrid sounds of some of these guys dropping bangers from the beginning and end up dropping urban and trap, something that's not under Party732's format, but I do need to keep the station on the air. So yeah, I see dance leading to the mashup direction and a blend of other formats in the mesh of a 128bpm bootleg sample. EDM will become the new underground rave scene and once again be thrown under the bus with the reputations the 90's rave scene had.
